Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Not much of a aroma, It has way too much head. The beer is good and smooth though. I like it.

Smooth and tasty, quite light in general. Pours a deep brown. Minimal beer aroma, flavour is thin but acceptable. Entirely drinkable.

Dark wheat beer is awful. It smells awful and tastes awful. I had this in Germany at the hotel. Would never get a dunkel wheat again.

Bottle. Deep brown color with a slight head that’s beige in color. Aroma is weak but still very nice. Taste is lighter than most dunkel weissbier. Still pretty good. A good summertime dark beer.

500ml bottle thanks to Mike S. Poured a thinner looking dark brown almost black with a super fast fading smaller head of foamy beige. Aroma is weak, swome sort of bad chocolate rotting over old grass. Watery mouthfeel with super fizzy lively carbonation and a quick fading aftertaste. Flavor is the same. old wet grass along with some old weak choclate and perhaps a touch of wet wheat. Blah, this sucks.

Refreshing as weissbier with particular notes in mouth and nose of roasty malts and yeast. Copper color and medium head.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, jäst, vete, karamell. Brödig och tydlig sötma. Liten beska och eftersmak.

Meager sized head. A light caramel and roast scent, but not as potent as I would like. Light, rather thin texture that is not unlike a soft drink rather than a beer. Despite the previously mentioned average aspects of this beer, I’m quite fond of the taste. Delicious roast and caramel supplemented with a light lingering bitterness. This is a great, albeit, milder dark beer.

One of the better beers I’ve had this first time in Berlin (Apr. 2013). Taste just as they advertise, dark wheat beer. Not terrible. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
