COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

No nariz, malte torrado, fermento e fundo de caramelo raspado. Na boca, malte torrado com retrogosto de café ao final. É uma cerveja agradável, no entando o conjunto não impressiona. Ótima formação de espuma, longa e duradoura.

Cola colored, with a light beige head. Smells like pumpernickel bread, maybe a touch more sweetness. Taste is toasty, a bit of rye, and some more light sweetness in the finish.

On tap at Dato Mainz. Dark brown, hazy color, medium long lasting head. Aroma is a bit malty, grainy, banana. Light sweet taste, decent bitterness. Medium to thick body, fresh carbonation. Aftertaste is nice malty, slight roasty.

From bottle in Xiamen, China. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a big tan head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing to speak of. Aroma of caramel and biscuit. Taste is caramel, biscuit, very lightly sweet and almost no hoppy bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and good carbonation. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish.

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a big beige head that disappears pretty quickly. Darker than your standard dunkelweizen. Aroma of caramel malts, very slight hint of banana. Tastes of roastiness, some coffee, doesn’t have the usual fruitiness that I have come to expect from dunkelweizens. Slight sourness. it is unusual for the style in my opinion.

0.5l bottle. Hazy brown color with small brown head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, banana and nuts. Taste is little sweet and even less bitter, kind of hard to define. Little watery, but very drinkable.

Aroma of hay and herbs. Pours very dark brown with big head. Very mild bitter taste. Full bodied, oily texture, with lively carbonation. Overall it looks like a dark beer but tastes quite close to other weizen beers.

Dark brown colour, huge head of beige. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins, clove. Light to medium body. Sweet taste which is similar to aroma. The ending is not so obvious. it’s a good beer by something makes me be a little bit disappointed.
