A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

IN my opinion the best German brew made! Smooth, very smooth & silky....! Like a virgin in a bottle or in a mug! Best on draft! Great taste & body!

A masterpiece! This beer has not been rated highly enough to date! The Erdinger line is as close as I have found to the beer on tap in Germany. This Dunkel is far better than any like it in North America.

Great dark Hefe beer. Not expensive (actually very good value) and a real pleasure to drink on a late summer day in a beer garden. Dark and refreshing, with a mysterious appeal of darkness, but Vorsicht, only drink when you are hungry. It tastes like a fine bread and is a pleasure, for sure, to share with close friends or a Wingman (USAF).

Sencillamente la mejor cerveza que he probado en mi vida. No tiene desperdicio, aroma cargado con un toque maltoso, justa concentración de alcohol, aroma espectacular.

In the USA this is apparently sold as the Erdinger Hefe-Weizen Dark.Pours a very dark brown with a nice dark beige head which lasts a while. It has a mild but appealing aroma with hints of coffee and malts. Taste is very smooth and well balanced.

Supurb smooth beer with body, flavor, color and a great head. Not for bitter lovers! The best beer I have ever had. Too bad it costs $4.00 per bottle in Canada.

Good body and excellent flavour. Just what I expected from a German beer: totally strong.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2003 I love German brews. Upon pouring this brew I noticed a highly carbonated and very lively brew with an excellent light brown head that contained very fine creamy bubbles and lasted a very long time. Its aroma was very pleasant and filled with malt. It has a very malty taste that goes down superbly smooth with a hint of aftertaste. It has notes of mellow caramel and deep dark malt. Some carbonation was noticeable on the tip of my tongue. Its taste was excellent and very much to my liking. Exactly what I expect of a great German beer and very SMOOTH!

The way to pour this beer is to just turn it upside down and just leave the bottle in the tall glass. The full-bodied flavour is juxtaposed by a light creamy texture of it. A must-have beer and still one of the best I have tried so far.

Having had many wheat dunkels my expectations were not high. With great flavor and a clean finish however, this has become my dunkel of choice. I recommend everybody that is a weissbeir dunkel fan try this beer at least once. It won’t be your last.
