COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Dark apperance. Nice head. Easy to drink, soft, perhaps hint of sweetness. This one was better a bit better than the last fre others I’ve tasted and all of them were bought at the same time from the same place. Perhaps the moon is now in different position or there is some variance in storaga temperature.

Very dark brown, fluffy light beige head. Caramely aroma, yeasty notes. Flavour has light malt, caramel and yeast. Dull.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a dark brown with whitish head. Faint roasted aroma. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with no bitterness. Flavors of coffee, caramel, toffee, nutty, butterscotch. Overall a very well done dunkel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

For my taste, too smooth, without much pretension. Now that these beers you can not ask for much; but I like more the complexity and evolution, beer worked.

Pours a clear dark caramel brown with a big foamy tan head. Roasted malt and sweet toffee aroma. Light carbonation. Tastes of caramel, toffee, and roasted malt. Smooth, light, and refreshing. Good flavors that leave a nice mouth feel and a smooth finish.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with big tanned head. Sweet and malty aroma with a hint of caramel. Same taste, sweet, malty and caramel, slightly roasted. Rather empty, short finish, no bitterness. Nothing special.

No information about the malts, hops and drinktemperature on the bottle. Appearance is fantastic, a black beer with a large large stable fine cream-colored head, no smell, oily, light malty, very light sweet, roasty, for me the banana taste is too low, (I have 0.5l bottle with best-before 04-2017 and batch L283107 0659)

Bottle. Pours clear dark cola - almost black - with large off-white head. Aroma is malt, grain, bread, sweet apples and hints of soy sauce. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and faint acidic. Body is oily with lively carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes that follow the nose plus notes of caramel, fudge and hints is chalk.

0.5 l bottle shared with my dad. Pours deep brown, almost black with a thick, long lasting beige head. Roasted malts, fruity notes, yeast and hay in aroma. In taste first come the usual weizen notes, some banana, yeast and bubblegum-like sweetness. But then appear the bitter coffee and roasted malts making the sip a whole. Short cofee finish, soft carbonation, light body. Nice dunkelweizen.

Amber and hazy with a dense head and a sweet, wheat nose. Mild intro with a malty mouthfeel and a caramel finish.
