COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

500 ml bottle into weizen glass, best before 9/2013. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, molasses, brown bread, wheat, clove, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, wheat, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, wheat, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice weizenbock. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Fekete teához hasonló színnel fogadja várományosát, óvatos, de annál többet ígérő, kissé télies illattal: mályvacukorral, alkoholban ázó gyümölcsökkel, vásári nyalánkságokkal, jellegzetes fűszeres, befőtt- és paradicsomlé-szerű aromákkal. Íze legalább ennyire vibráló: az édeskés zamatok, az alkohol kissé metsző éle, a malátás testesség, a különféle töltött édességek jelenléte egy erőteljes, leginkább hidegebb éjszakákhoz dukáló ízélményt produkálnak, mely azonban korántsem válik kárára egyetlen nyári estének sem.

Bottle. Moderate roasted and cereal for the malt, light herbs for the hops and dough for the yeast, with over ripe banana, cinnamon, clove and cola. Head is large, frothy, light tan with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and faintly bitter, then finishes lightly sweet anf faintly bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. A tasy mid-morning weizen Bock.

Poured from 500ml bottle with very opaque dark brown color, murky body with very tall light brown head that lasted fairly little, settling at about 5mm until the end. Smell of dark chocolate and carameled sugar. Slight bittery taste of roasted malt, some fruit and traces of wheat. A fairly complex and interesting beer.

Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dark fruits, caramel, wheat malts, some toasted character, earth, not bad, the body is on the lighter side.
