Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Brown color, average sized tan head. Full body, average to high carbonation. Aroma is very interesting and intense. At first there’s a feeling of a Belgian Dubbel with malts, dark fruits (maybe raspberries) and yeast and underneath that there’s a familiar wheat and banana aroma. Taste is pleasantly sweet. Very interesting beer.

Color is hazy dark brown, with big tan head. Banana and bubble gum nose. Aroma is banana, caramel and raisins. Very creamy, thick texture, flat carbonation. Long sweet finish. Maybe a little bit to sweet, but without a doubt, the best Erdinger so far. (Vrutak 0,5l bottle)

Pours rusty brown with large retreating beige head. Aroma is subdued but offers under-ripe banana, raisins and yeast. Similar to a Belgian-quad, the qualities combine to produce marzipan or a stollen slice. Medium body with lively carbonation. Taste is sweet on the bonnet with raisin, dark fruit. Some malt and warming alcohol precede a very light bitter tail. Enjoyable and not too bulky like many bocks or quads can be.

[5367-20130520] 500mL bottle. Toasted caramelized fig aroma. Slightly hazy, dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. More toasted caramel and figgy fruit flavour is not overly sweet, which is often the case with this style. Medium-full body. Tasty, quite drinkable. (6/3/7/4/14) 3.4

Hazy brown beer with big blonde persistent head. Aroma is faint with bubblegum and banana. Flavor is sweet with ripe banana and dark sugar, malty and spicy. As the beer warms up the flavors and aromas get more intense but also alcohol starts coming through. The finish is quite long and bitter with lots of alcohol. Medium full. Not the most complex or enjoyable weizenbock.
