Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Bottle @ home. pours a copper colored slightly cloudy liquid with a large and lasting tan head. Sweet, malty and grainy aroma with ripe banana, wheat, some dark fruits, some clove. Smooth texture with a big sweet mouth feel. Flavor of clove, malt, wheat, dark fruits, syrup, herbs. Lingering sweet ripe banana and caramel. Balancing dry bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy dark brown body, medium head. Aroma has yeast, caramelly wheat malt and some sweet caramel. Caramelly and wheaty taste with some banana and dried fruit. Pretty nice, as is their Dunkelweizen. Alcohol is fully integrated. Great beer, although I don’t really understant what exactly is supposed to be piquant about this and why is "retaining" this considered to be a remarkable feat by the person who wrote the commercial description.

500ml bottle. Murky dark brown color. Huge size, thick dark beige head, stays. Looks nice. Caramel, sweetish, wheat, faint chocolate notes in aroma. Caramel, bready, sweet, faint plums, chocolate in taste. Soft carbonation. Caramelly bread in aftertaste. Distant hops in palate. Pleasant sliky smooth mouthfeel. Well done brew!

Dark brown beer, small tan head, spotty lacing. Nose is nutty, caramel, malt, some dust. Flavor is wheaty, bready, sweet caramel, hay. Touch of alcohol in the finish along with wheat. Not bad, but not that interesting. Well made though.

0,5L bottle (from BeerExpress, Tallinn). Pours copper with beige-light brown head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, caramel, fruits, almost chocolate like notes. Flavor is very sweet, caramel, candy, fruits. Body is surprisingly thin for the ABV. Finish has some alcohol warmth. Overall: maybe a little bit too sweet, but still a nice brew.
