COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Bottle 0,50L. Murky brown colour with huge, light brown, frothy head with bubbles like ementaller. Aroma of dried fruits, brown sugar, orange, lemon and apricot. Bitter light start taste with banana and brown sugar. Finnish is light bitter, too. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body, watery beer with soft carbonation. Not bad, but I expected better.

Bottle. Cloudy dark brown, no head. Sweet dark malts which are very noticeable in the nose and aftertaste and includes a very small roasted flavour. A touch sticky.

Bottle into a glass. Pours a hazy yellowish orange with a creamy white head. Smells of banana with a touch of cloves. A more concentrated version of their standard hefe. Really good and very easy to drink.

Murky brown pour with large creamy tan head. Rich, chocolate raisiny nose with a hint of yeast. Creamy burnt chocolate maltiness with hints of banana, dark fruit. Finished with a woodsy dryness and some mellow wheatiness after the swallow. An interesting brew. My first taste in this style. The chocolate maltiness and the smooth wheaty taste seem to be at odds. For now thought Erdinger’s seems to have bokered a peace treaty. For the rest of us it is simply a treat.
