COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Botella 50 cl tomada en la antigua internacional Oviedo octubre 2001. (r942). Aromas y sabores maltosos ligeramente tostados con ligera sensación alcohólica. La mejor de todas las probadas de la marca.

From bottle in weizen. Pours with two finger head, yeast on the nose and lively, consistent CO2 release. Looks like a cola and tastes a bit like one too. Rich, sweet malt profile with an initial spicy bite that fades. Delish.

50cl bottle from Heinemann, OSL Airport. Pours hazy brown with a decent and lasting off-white head. Malty, wheaty and fruity aroma with caramel, dark fruits, banana and hints of spices and nuts. Sweet, fruity and caramlly with not much bitterness to speak of. Quite pleasant, but far from the best weizen bock I have tried.

Excessive packaging for an average beer. Came in a cardboard magnetic sommelier case with two glasses and a Latin-German looking woman and Erdinger advertising all over the box. I can’t figure out whether they think people will keep the box or not. It has a magnet in it. But it’s cardboard. Anyway, dark brown bandy, off-white head, soapy lacing, looks fairly attractive, like the box...but when you inspect closely it’s good, but not as fancy as you might be expecting...just like the box. Sweet grain, dried fruit aroma, a bit of yeastiness, lactose. Taste is semi-sweet, and I see in the deScription that it’s not going to be "too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers." I would argue they played it a bit too safe on this one. The taste is not as flavourful as I would have hoped. Pleasant sweet grains. Over all, decent.

Aroma: roasted dark malts, banana, cloves. Appearance: hazy brown color and nice beige head. Taste: low bitterness, roasted dark malts, cloves, banana, warming alcohol, quite zesty, dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, roasted finish. Overall: Good weizenbock, maybe alcohol should be better covered.
