COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Bottle sourced from Beer Hawk. Fairly standard member of the awesoe dunkel weizenbock, nice malt, smooth alcohol, some caramel apple, hint of spice. The elephant in the room is of course Aventinus but this is pretty tasty.

500 ml bottle. One of these beer I occasionally drink, and happy to find whenever there are no other decent options available. I find it far more interesting than the regular Erdinger Weissbier and better than the Dunkel. This is an interesting combination of weissbier and a bock, and brings out something nice. A fine amber body with a big beige head. Aroma of dark malt, light roast, caramel and some dry fruit and just a hint of bubble-gum yeast. Flavour is sweet, but not too typical bock sweet, light roast, dry fruit, caramel and moderate banana yeast. Fine body, moderate aftertaste, good balance, quite lively carbonation and very refreshing. Also a pretty good match to a big variety of food. Nothing super complex, but one of these nice everyday beers that most people could enjoy.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours reddish brown with a pronounced tan head. Aroma is of molasses, banana, cinnamon, vanilla and raisins - banana bread, really. Taste is crisp and fairly sweet, with nice roasted and caramel malts to complement the aroma. Medium bodied, and good carbonation. Fruity-malty finish without any lingering hop character. Really nice weizenbock!

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky dark brown with dense light tan head. Aroma is wheaty malt, banana, some subtle dark fruit and spice. Flavour is wheat malt, banana-y esters, brown sugar and light clove. Fairly rich. Good, not great.

500 mL. Pours a dark cola color with a thick brown head and lots of lacing. Dessert like on the nose, chocolate cream and coffee, yeast, cherry and banana. Fairly sweet; no hops here but a souring finish. Smooth with medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a big light beige frothy head. Aroma is wheat and chocolate with small roast. Taste is a nice full wheat and caramel/chocolate mouthfeel. Nice yeast with banana esters in the finish.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a Weizen glass. Very deep orange-mahogany with a nice burnt orange-tan head. Bright fruitiness, rich brown sugar, lots of banana esters, some raisins and dark dried fruits, light clove spiciness, other esters, rich and delicious. Medium + body with soft effervescence. Rich fruity and sweet with plenty of esters, dark bread crust, light spiciness, quite good; off-dry with minimal bitterness and a rich, richly fruity and malty finish.

Bottle. Dark brown color, full tan head. Yeasty aroma with some banana. Smooth flavor with brown ale style nuttiness and a sweet, yeasty finish. Full body, medium-high carbonation. Despite the description on this site this is a bit too sweet for my taste.

Very dark mohagany pour, with a big beige head. A nice nose of sweet banana bread, and some subtle spice. Carbonation is quite soft, and the mouthfeel a little flat.the flavor is quite sweet, big breadiness, big yeast notes. The finish is very heavy on the sweet malts, touches of bubblegum and more banana. A touch too sweet in the end, but still i think the best erdinger beer ive had.
