COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Reminiscent of the doppelbocks I been having lately. The head is just fantastic. The wheatyness is only a little bit distracting; otherwise an excellent brew.

Drank at a great little pub called Tolkien’s in Zagreb, from an Erdinger glass. Extremely overrated, like most Erdinger weissbiers. Pours a dark brown, with a medium tan thick head. Unfiltered I guess. Dark malts and raisins in the nose........where’s the taste ? Lemon. I could get only lemon, a bit malt/liquorice maybe, but lemon owns what little taste there is. There’s a faint roasty aftertaste. Refreshing, but this little taste in a weizenbock ?

Wonderfull surprice, a very good beer, mostly lasting creamy head, nice dark brown colour, average to long finish, touch of chokolate, but not sweet as promised. This had ex. date Jan 2005!!!!!

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2006 (bottle) Cloudy and hazy brown colour with a huge foamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolatel and yeast. Spritzy carbonation, medium body, sweet flavour. Initially sweet and toasted malty taste with a touch of cacao, sweet malty and slightly clove-spicy finish. A little overcarbonated but all in all a gentle Weizenbock.

Bottle poured dark brown with a huge off white but quickly dissipating head. Aroma is sweet malt, yeast and spice. Flavor is sweet with yeast, raisins. Not overly sweet but still a bit much for my taste.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2005 Pours like coke or pepsi carbonated with the head disapating quickly. Smells like overpowering hops and alcohol. When I poped this 500 ml bottle the head overflowed making me sip the foam from the bottle to prevent overflow. Foam was very bitter by the way. Sour palate from my experince, but Wiezen Bocks are not my speciality. Interesting beer liked it as something new, but very sour palate maybe I got a bad bottle

Very deep brown with long lasting head. Typical but soft bock aroma. Flavor is fruity-sweet but maintains a strong balancing hop presence as well (looking now at the commercial description they are quite accurate); finish is raisiny but also slightly metallic. Airy, carbonated palate with a slightly harsh alcohol presence. In the end though, this beer is quite a bargain at $2.49 for a 25 oz bottle -- it earn 2 extra Overall points for economy.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2005 I’ll avoid saying anything inflammatory so I don’t appear racist or anything. It was a good thing I was sitting on a beach in Venice, CA when drinking this, because I’m assuming it’s German for "crap". Lots of head, or, more accurately, foam. Just a lot of bitterness, but without any hops for accompaniment. Overall, something to avoid.

Dark reddish beer with a tan head. Sweet fruity aroma with alcohol notes. Sweet taste with vanilla notes and some alcohol in the finish.

Thick and dark brown with a HUGE rising head. Slightly oxidized aroma with some plum. Fruity and smooth in flavor with some plum and alcohol. Oxidized.
