COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

Bottle 50 cl. Dark brown in color, with a thick creamy tanned head. Sweet fruity, ripe banana, bready malty and some spices in aroma. Later on also some roasted and burnt woody notes appears. Lots of wheat in taste with some hints of banana. As it seems this isn’t that sweet as I expected, which is actually quite nice as it makes it more drinkable and enjoyable at the same time. Some yeast also in aftertaste with the before mentioned wheat and banana fruity flavors. Nice one and also the best that I’ve tasteed of Erdinger so far.

Very strong malty aroma with hints of coffee. The appearence is also very classy, with a brown hazy colour. The taste is medium bitter. The palate is creamy, staying a while in your mouth before it goes away, very nice. Overall it is mainly a winter Bock, that stands out in terms of flavour and palate. Very secure choice, at all times.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet in Norway, on order. An unrated revisit to a beer I hada cold winter day in Berlin years ago. Obviously, I wasnt freezing today and did not need the warmth of a strong beer- so I was a little disappointed, but that is the social factor... Dark brown color, ok foam. Fruity aromas, some banana, malt and light spices. Medium body & complexity. On the sweet side, some bitterness- but too sweet for my pallet. Enjoyable

Zapach z butelki: Gruszka z delikatnym goździkiem. Piana: Gęsta i obfita, średniopęcherzykowa. Jasnobeżowa, opada w średnim tempie. Po pewnym czasie pojawiają się powiększające się pęcherze, przypominające dziury w serze. Kolor: Ciemnomiedziany, mętne. Zapach: Owocowy. Banany, gruszki, truskawki, śliwki. Nuty miodowe. Bardzo delikatny goździk. Smak: Spora podbudowa, słodkawe. Owocowe, kojarzy się z brzoskwiniami, żółtymi, dużymi śliwkami. Sporo skórki chleba i delikatna nuta karmelowa. Delikatna przyprawowość. Tekstura: Gęste, z wyczuwalnym osadem. Nieco lepkie, rozgrzewające w przełyku. Nasycenie: Średnie. Goryczka: Niska, alkoholowa. Pijalność: Nieco powyżej średniej. Przyjemne, deserowe piwo.

Kort ettersmak. Flott balansert men ikke akkurat kompleks.

Typical Weizenbock with beige, thick, compact foam and mahogany brown colour with reddish hue, equally misty. Dark malts in the nose, caramel, faint chocolate, wheat, banana, cloves, sweet paprika, ginger. Soft sweetish taste, caramel, light wheat sourishness, weak roasted, bit coffee-like bitterness in the end with warming alcohol; strong, even a bit harsh carbonation. Combines the full, caramelly sweetness and warming alcohol of a Doppelbock with the wheat sourish freshness of a Weissbier, as expected in this style.

A beer with not much aroma. First impression was of too much alcohol. But after a few sips alcohol disappear from mouth. Pleasant taste, but not to drink much, one bottle it's enough to make you feel full. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle into weizen glass, best before 9/2013. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, molasses, brown bread, wheat, clove, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, wheat, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, banana, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, wheat, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice weizenbock. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
