3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: hazy brown with two fingers of fluffy light tan head, good retention and patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: banana, dark fruit, toffee, vinous. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, very mild bitter. (7/10) Palate: full body, moderate to low carbonation, lingering warming finish. (4/5)
Pretty in-spec example of the style. Mild and smooth, perhaps a bit too much so: the utter absence of hop character is normal, but a little more intensity across the board would be nice. Still, easy-drinking and good. (15/20)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2015 0.5 l bottle from Drankenservice Françoise, best before 8/2015. Murky, dark reddish brown with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Fruity-malty aroma of ripe banana, strawberry jam, dark cherries, wine gum and plums. Sweetish, fruity-malty taste of dark cherries, plums, strawberry jam, ripe banana, cinnamon and candy sugar, followed by sourish, minimally bitter, even slightly alcoholic finish with notes of port. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The bottle is already rather old but maybe the beer benefitted from that. The slight port notes and the soft carbonation make this beer quite smooth but it us somehow almost too heavy to drink. Maybe a tad too sweet and not sophisticated enough but still good.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This weizenbock is traditionally Deutsch. No discernible hop character but definitely imperial in Bavarian bock malt. Every molecule is imparted with distinct flavors of the Bavarian weizen yeast strains. I have always held these high Gravity weizens sacred. Similar in some ways to Belgian ales due to the characteristic nature of the weizen ale yeast strains, these ale style have flavors reminiscent of each other. However, this bier has a tremendous dark malt character. Ther is nothing in the wild ester flavor department characterized by warm fermentation temperatures. A true German bock weizen brewed with ample Bavarian malts to a rather intoxicating gravity and ethanol content. Heavenly.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark, reddish amber with a foamy tan head. Aroma of wheat, molasses, raisins. Taste is very rich, malt forward, sweet, and slightly earthy. Full bodied, thick texture, fizzy carbonation with a lingering, yeasty finish. Pleasant and easy to drink, but lacking depth of flavour.
