COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lovers of strong beer need not worry that ERDINGER Weissbier Pikantus 'dark bock beer' is going to be too sweet, as is the case with so many bock beers. Despite the higher alcohol content, the Erding brew masters have succeeded in retaining the special Pikantus taste.

50 cL bottle from the LCBO, served in a branded weizen glass. Pours hazy chestnut with a moderate beige head that fades to a thin cover and leaves a tiny amount of lace. On the nose, there are notes of brown sugar, candy sugar, molasses, toasted malts and a hint of noble hops. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with brown sugar and caramel paired with delicate noble hops, herbs, banana and dark fruit. The finish is moderate in length with herbs, fruit and noble hops. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a nice dunkler weizenbock with a complex fruity character. 2013-02-23

Dark brown, stable head. Dry toast, dried fig, wood. Taste is more expressive, foamy mouth feel, nice bitterness underlying the toast and a little bit of heat. (50cl bottle from from Saveur Bière)

Shared with wim at my home. Black colored beer with small off-white head and no carbonation. Malty fruited aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is malty slightly spicy.

Bem aromática e com sabor encorpado característico do estilo Bock. O problema das Erdinger é o excesso de carbonatação. Já é o 2º estilo que tomo dessa marca e aparentemente essa característica está presente em todas, infelizmente.

On tap at PIB 2016, pours a murky deep dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with bready malt, toasted malt and dark dried fruits. Low-medium residual sweetness. Solid stuff.

Pours hazy deep brown color with medium, off-white head. Smell of wheat, herbs and caramel. Medium body with subtle carbonation. Thick, oily texture. Moderately sweet taste with some bitter notes to it. Aroma of wheat, caramel, toffee, nuts, herbs, spices. Woody aftertaste. Lovely balanced, just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, delicious.
