With a slightly darker color and slightly higher alcohol content than the classic ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast', the 'winter brew' offers a really pleasant change at the coldest time of the year, a time when we like to treat ourselves to something special. Available between November and February.

Pours hazy yellow with a high head. Aroma is weak, mostly malts with some wheat. Flavor is malts and wheat with a hint of hops. Decent but worse than basic hefeweizen.

500 ml bottle.
Pours a hazy orange colour with a large, creamy and thick head which collapses quickly. Aroma of wheat, dough and stuffy cheese. Flavour of wheat, light sweet banana, light spices, dough and orange peel. Medium bodied, foamy mouthfeel and a light, wheaty and spicy finish. Weird dough-like Hefeweizen. Not very refreshing either.

Fine sized foam, but all too quickly collapses and disappears. Taste is sweet and mellow. not quite as sweet as the standard variant, Erdinger Weissbier. I would describe the taste as the classic style. Fine beer but lacks nicer wheat foam.

Hazy yellow-copper color which a bit darker than typical Hefeweizen. Massive white frothy dense head that slowly recede and leave plentiful lacing patch all around. Rather high carbonation, visible bubbles stream fast towards the top. S: Blend with malt, bready, slight orange citric and subtle clove and banana. T: Upfront by bready sweet and malty flavor, clove spiciness and citric zest dwell through the middle then slight bready malt sweetness make an end until finish. The usual banana ester and yeasty trait are very light and barely detectable.

Hefiger, etwas schaler Geruch. Bottle. Brown orange hazy, medium white head. Head is a bit too small for a hefeweizen. Aroma of banana, citrus and german wheat yeast. Taste is light malted with a thin feel and a watery sweetness. Also some citrus aciss. Finish is not very hoppy. I’ll let it pass as a hefe but not one of the best i’ve tried

01.06.2011.0,5l Bottle. Golden yellow colour with white head. Aroma is wheaty with moderate bitterness. There is not too much flavour. A little booring weizen this one.

[500ml bottle, Cornelius Beer&Wine, Edinburgh] Totally opaque golden brown. Extremely carbonated, with a peaky white head. Yeasty, wheaty aromas with some spices. Some sweet malt in the taste, but also the standard weissbier components. Interesting – not really a winter beer per se, but more festive than the straight up Erdinger [13122007]

50cl. Pours a cloudy peachy-orange colour with steady bubbles and a beautful head. The nose has oats and fresh cut grass but ends with a persistent vanilla cream note. The taste has porridge notes with bananas and vanilla ice-cream on the end. The palate has a big structure and a really creamy structure but is somehow still refreshing. Overall, it is a lovely complex beer which could actually be sessioned.
