With a slightly darker color and slightly higher alcohol content than the classic ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast', the 'winter brew' offers a really pleasant change at the coldest time of the year, a time when we like to treat ourselves to something special. Available between November and February.

[500ml bottle, Cornelius Beer&Wine, Edinburgh] Totally opaque golden brown. Extremely carbonated, with a peaky white head. Yeasty, wheaty aromas with some spices. Some sweet malt in the taste, but also the standard weissbier components. Interesting – not really a winter beer per se, but more festive than the straight up Erdinger [13122007]

50cl. Pours a cloudy peachy-orange colour with steady bubbles and a beautful head. The nose has oats and fresh cut grass but ends with a persistent vanilla cream note. The taste has porridge notes with bananas and vanilla ice-cream on the end. The palate has a big structure and a really creamy structure but is somehow still refreshing. Overall, it is a lovely complex beer which could actually be sessioned.

16 April 2011, bottle. looks great for a weissen; bright orange, hazy w/ a thick, foamy head. nose isn’t as standard. big banana and coriander aromas are replaced with a creamy kind of sweet malt and a faint carbon dioxide odour. med/thin body and moderately fizzy. have to say i’m disappointed w the body. i was looking for a bigger, creamier heavy body. most of the weisbier characteristics have really gone by the wayside with this. it tastes like a slightly coppery, faintly wheaty, malty german ale. not too impressed.

Dark golden colour with average head. The aroma is the usual wheatbeer’s with a bit stronger malt and bread notes. Taste is intense with hoppy aftertaste. Not a very special one, I expected it to be full-bodied and less fizzy but it’s an enjoyable one.

Trevlig vetedoft, smaken är ganska tunn och intetsägande. Egentligen inte så mycket mer att skriva om den.

Bottle. Hazy orange/light brown with a large white head. Aroma of citrus, wheat and some light banana. The same in the taste, also some spices and yeast. Drinkable but on the thin side.

Hazy orange of color with a cloudy white head. An aroma of wheat, sweet, bubblegum and weak banana. A flavor of wheat, sweets, bubblegum, banana and exotic fruits.

Bottle 50cl. An almost clear golden beer with good head and lacing. Nose is more malty than fruity. A creamy beer with good malty notes even caramel and slightly toasted notes. Good hops bitterness, some metallic hints too. Yeast is less perfumed compared to other hefeweizen. Not bad, more a pilsener kind of than a heifeweizen.

Clear orange with a huge white head. Aroma is sweet, wheaty and fruity. Flavor is rather sweet and light bitter. Finishes sweet. Weaker than other hefe-weizens including Erdingers regular. 100211

Bottle. Clove, orange peel, and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy orange-amber color with large white head. Wheat malt with light citrus and clove flavors. Decent body. A straight forward weizen with little fruit or spice flavors.
