COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a slightly darker color and slightly higher alcohol content than the classic ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast', the 'winter brew' offers a really pleasant change at the coldest time of the year, a time when we like to treat ourselves to something special. Available between November and February.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that died down leaving a short head on the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass. The head has good retention properties. S: Light aromas of yeast are present in the nose, although not much in the way of banana fruits are perceptible. T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that there is less earthiness in the yeast and a little more bananas and lots of wheat. No cloves are perceptible. M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. O: This beer is easy to drink and you get more of the wheat compared to the bananas. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home, picked up at Supermarket Liquor for $1. This is six months old but I’ve never seen it before, so I thought I would give it a chance. Dark golden orange appearance with some mild haze (before pouring the yeast) with a lasting off white head. Aroma has some herbal spice, a little nutmeg, light caramel, vanilla, and light clove. A little twangy, light tartness. There’s a metallic character. The flavor has deteriorated more than the aroma. It’s bready and stale. Fresh, I think this would be kind of enjoyable. Maybe a slightly spicier version of their standard weissbier and a fair amount less fruit. Pretty decent brew that I need to try fresher but I can tell this is nothing too flashy even in this state.

On tap at Beer Deluxe. Pours hazy orange with medium head. Fizzy and lively carbonization, very refreshing for a wheat beer. Besides that pretty standard though.

Bottle from beer hawk. Light amber with a good white head. Aroma is dry and wheaty, a bit fruity. Taste is dry and slightly sweet with twangy tartness. Tingly carbonation and a rather thin body.

[Bottle] Hazy amber pour with a huge amount of lasting off-white colored foam on top. Aromas of bubblegum, clove and wheat malts. Flavor includes more of the same, with caramel, more clove and vanilla coming through most prominently. Banana esters and wheat cereal notes are apparent as well. Highly carbonated.

Darker beer than the usual. Banana bread in taste. Light in taste. Good but not much different than the original.

Bottle, 500ml. Hazy golden with a large, frothy offwhite head. Fizzy/watery aromas of cereal, grass, CO2. Medium bodied with moderate to fizzy carbonation. Very malty mouthfeel with little sweetness or bitterness. Almost nonexistent finish. Very disappointing.

Bottled. Not a whole lot wintry about this. Slightly darker and more cloudy than regular erdinger. A nice weisse but otherwise move along....
