With a slightly darker color and slightly higher alcohol content than the classic ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast', the 'winter brew' offers a really pleasant change at the coldest time of the year, a time when we like to treat ourselves to something special. Available between November and February.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that died down leaving a short head on the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass. The head has good retention properties. S: Light aromas of yeast are present in the nose, although not much in the way of banana fruits are perceptible. T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that there is less earthiness in the yeast and a little more bananas and lots of wheat. No cloves are perceptible. M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. O: This beer is easy to drink and you get more of the wheat compared to the bananas. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle. Hazy golden color, small white head. Sweet fruit and wheat aroma. Light body with a sweet flavor and a light finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: deep, bright gold with a creamy, fluffy white head. Aroma: powerful nose of yeast, ripe bananas, light citrus, toasted cloves, and yeasty bubblegum. Taste: banana bread (including a bit of toasted nuts), sweet caramel, allspice, clove, light ginger. Finish: zingy tingle in the mouth, lingering yeast and sweet wheat crackers. Notes: Expected a dunkler bock from the bottle and season, but was still happy. On the sweet and spicy side, and a little heftier than the traditional HW. Definitely felt ’special’. Would drink again.

Enjoyable. Hazy orange pour with white head. Aroma is wheat and stale hay. Taste is banana and grain with good carbonation.carbonation . Had some orange marinated bacon with the last half, and it paired well.

Expectation: love the style, but the low ratings on RateBeer suggest it’ll be alright
Motivation: as much as I aspire to drink only the finest beers available, sometime value has to be taken into account and it certainly is the case here
Hardware: Half litre bottle (best by Aug 2014) into generic Weizen glass
Nose: wheat and a little funky.
sip: banana flavors and caramel/spice
Taste: light to medium sweetness
Misc: slight fizz
Conclusion: about what I expected - not a stellar example of the style, but definitely poundable if need be.

500ml bottle, 5.6%. A very tasty wheatbeer. Pours amber with good-sized white foamy head, detect hints of vanilla. A good beer and feels like it’s stronger than the alcohol content suggests

I do not remember where this was got: Pours slightly hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is banana and clove... blah blah. Taste is slightly sweet. Very minimal hoppiness. Some minor mineral water feel in the beer. Hey, even though this is a winter beer, it still tasted fine now (says it is best before August, so whatever). Not bad.

Despite the snow on the label, I didn’t realize this was a winter seasonal and I bought an old bottle in May. Thankfully, it is still pretty good--good enough that I will hopefully remember to buy another bottle and rerate next November. It is cloudy orange in color w/ a small head. Erdinger definitely gets a real nice yeast character on this w/ plenty of fresh banana. This is just a touch on the sweet side but any heaviness is cut by vigorous carbonation. The only real sign of its age is a nutty bit of oxidized malt and even that works fairly well in the context of the strong banana flavors. This is a real nice beer, shame I bought it the wrong time of year and even more of a shame that I could. We need a better system for ensuring imported beer is fresh. Just sayin’.

Aroma is spices, earth and light bubblegum/bananas. The flavor is citrus, wheat, mild sweetness and a sour/tart finish.
