ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

This one is better than the regular hefeweizen, it has a good aroma, wheat, yeast, bubblegum, banana, a little bit of clove, the same in the flavor. Medium body, very good carbonation, small but good head retention. Dry finish. Maybe not the best hefeweizen but it is very enjoyable.

Good old Bavarian. We changed our mind today. It’s been sitting uneasily for a while for reasons I’ll share one day. Going Scandinavian. I would like to try more Scandinavian beers. But this isn’t the place to talk about that. Cloves lite I shall name this beer. I’m off to cook chili crab pasta, yum.

Bottle. Pours with a thick white foam. Vaporates slowly and completely. Yellow-brown and murky. Aroma is light, fresh and citrusy. Taste is sour with yeast, banana and some citrus coming through. Sour aftertaste. Nice strongish carbonation. All in all very well rounded.

Delirium (636) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 4, 2013
Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a moderate white head. Aroma is banana and cloves. Flavor is mainly sweet banana, hint of bubblegum, and some coriander and cloves. Well balanced and smooth, while still being pretty flavorful. A very serviceable hefeweizen, and at least a modest step up from the regular Erdinger Weissbier.

StueyD (812) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2013
A cloudy, mid amber coloured beer with a frothy but weak white head. A light spicy aroma of clove, cinnamon and vanilla, there is a hint of tropical fruit, but not as prominent as most wheat beers. Dry mouthfeel. Spicy fruit flavours dominate, clove, vanilla and cinnamon accompany banana and mango, plus citrusy flavours of lemon and grapefruit. The finish is long and full of the spice and fruit flavours. Bottle purchased from Rewe, Neufahrn bei Freising, Germany.
