ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Bright golden straw colour with a hue of burnt orange. Thin pure white head, steady stream of carbonation. The aroma is traditional hefe with light bubblegum, banana, coriander, grassy, spicy hops. Beautiful aroma! Very nice flavour, smooth flavour. Crisp citrus and spicy noble hops. Tons of bubblegum, toasted wheat malts, banana. A hint of coriander. Very refreshing and nicely done overall. Smooth, well balanced.

Below average. Very grainy and yeasty in aroma and taste. Missing weizen freshness and aroma. Appearance also is not what I would expect.

A weisse beer worth skipping. Tastes of metal, cornbread, up front sour crispy malts. A pretty crappy beer aside from its respectable aroma.

Anaranjada. Turbia. Espuma muy abundante propia del estilo. Aroma no muy agradable, algo lacteo y frutal. Sabor cansino, descompensado, principalmente dulce frutal, mango, plátano. Poco que aportar. Mediocre.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy light amber color with a large, lasting, frothy and thick almost cream like head. Aroma of cloves, marzipan, balanced with banana maltiness, wheat, spices. Medium bodied, somewhat sweet honey notes along with flavors of wheat, cloves, grain, light lemon and paper. Lingering low to moderate banana and white pepper.

0,5 l bottle. Appearance: Slight hazy golden color, huge frothy off-white head. Aroma: Spicy, slight banana, clove, lots of wheat, bit citrus, hints of cardboard. (Actually this bottle is before thebest before date.) Taste: Sweet backbone for a weizen, some citrus, wheat, clove, banana and cardboard hints on top of it. Finish is dry and spicey. medium body, average carbonation.

Bottle @Post Office Vaults, Brum. Appearance: cloudy blond colour with white foam. Aroma: yeast, spices, banana, quite rich. Taste: fruity and yeasty, wheat, banana, spices, hint of honey, a bit sweet. This is a very nice wheat beer, much more interesting than Erdinger Weissbier (Hefe-weizen).
