ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

27-JUL-2012, bottle @home, from Irma. Nice orange with off-white head of quite big bubbles. Some retention but little lacing. Yeas and malt aroma with banana, spice, and grain. Taste the same. Initially creamy but soon turns watery. The high carbonation on the watery finish makes it a bit soda pop like. Nice bottle, nice weissen.

500ml bottle. Hazy dark golden colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, white head. Wheaty and yeasty aroma, minimally spicy. Taste is minimally sweet wheat malty with decreasing sweetness, decent hints of fruit in apple direction, later with minimally tart and dry notes. Average carbonation.

The activity in this beer is not to be ignored. Pay attention while pouring. Volatile head jumps out of the glass if you are not careful. Full and earthy wheatness envelopes the mouth. Esthers are not overwhelming, but are tastefully done. Pretty Brussels lace as the glass empties. This goes great with homemade spicy beef jerky.

Bottle. Hazy dark yellow color with a thick white foamy head. Yeasty aroma of ripe banana. Flavors are banana, wheat and lemon. Definitely not bad beer but for a Hefe-Weizen its finish is a bit too watery. Lively carbonation.
