ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Pours hazy orange with small white head. Nose is wet fabric with mold. Slight fruit smell as well but not enough to get rid of the mildew. Taste is slightly sweet and ablittle bitter. Not bad but could be way better. Mouthfeel is sharp and fizzy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Whear beer from Erdinger. Hazy light amber unfiltered color. Aroma strong bananas, some vanilla and some medical odours. Has that typical wheat beer bittery(?) taste in the palate, citrusy. Adding the yeast from bottom brings more flavour and fill. Balanced aftertaste. Yet ordinary.

5.2% cloudy gold with a thin head, usual wheat beer aroma, very similar taste to the standard Erdinger but slightly more intense.

Bottle, 50 cl: Hazy golden beer with a colossal, creamy, only slowly diminishing white head. Aroma is fresh and wheaty with notes of spices, especially cloves and pepper, applejuice, ripe banana and citrus. Taste is light to medium bitter, with notes of exotic fruits, finely balanced with a light hop-bitterness, not commonly found in Hefeweizens. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Dry, pepper-spicy and slightly bitter finish. A macro-hefe much above standard.

Bottled at Piazza Monaco, Munich Airport. Cloudy pale orange, rich creamy head. Fruity banana aroma. Sweetish with medium body and spritzy mouthfeel. Yeast induced banana and clove flavours are prevalent here. muc hmore so than in other Erdinger beers. Soapy finish. Slight notes of boiled vegetables gives a commercial weizen flavour, akin to many Russian weizens. More "real" weizens than ither Erdinger stuff, but still rather industrial.

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Aromas of clove and pepper, some banana when beer warms. Taste of firm clove and pepper with bready malt and some banana. Full bodied, high carbonation. Seems fairly similar to standard Erdinger.
