ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Pours a giant white, spongy head with a murky amber color to it. Smells of an interesting mix, featuring ripe banana, dried leaves and a spicy clove note. Dough bread underneath with a whiff of tart sourness to it. Every ingredient in this aims for the most possible refreshment and is perfectly in tune with the other flavors. Amped up by a vivid, soft carbonation, a pleasant complexity shines through at all times, providing a smooth mouthfeel. Tastes of dried citrus peel, grass, white bread and a gentle yeast softness, which ties everything in this together. A stony mineral quality comes up after the swallow, accompanied by sugared yeast dough, transforming into wheat, wild honey and well water. Very clean on the tongue, truly refreshing and well balanced. An easy drinkery which is perfect for the warmer days, being able to produce a depth of flavors within its yeast softness which makes this truly great.

Special bottle, no information in detail about the hops, malts and drinktemperature, the website is terrible - only for sales, A cloudy golden beer with very nice stable cream-colored head, yeast is dominated, banana, no hops and malts for me, fizzy carbonation, finish very short and not dominated, good balanced between sweet and bitter, (I have a 0.5l bottle with batch L181104 1529 and best-before 01-2017)

Pours orange from the bottle with a long lasting, frothy head. A very attractive looking beer. Aroma is bread and tropical fruit; banana is present but you have to search for it. Taste is yeasty bread, banana, pepper, and clove. Finish is weaker than some of the competitors and fails to leave an impression. Otherwise this is quite a decent Weizen. Medium bodied with a high level of carbonation at the outset. All in all fewer sweet banana notes and more bread than an average Weizen. Good.

Aroma: Medium-high clove, bready, Medium banana, wheat. Medium-light toasted banana. Appearance: Very hazy light copper body, Massive, rocky head, fine bubbles. Flavour: Medium bready, banana, clove. Light vanilla. Dry finish with lingering light clove. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation. Light creaminess. Overall: Very nice! Different to see the clove in front, not the banana, on initial perceptions. Afterwards the beer balanced into perfect harmony. 500 ml bottle, roused, poured. 10A. Weissbier
