ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Smell of yeast, banana, wheat. Mead colour, extreme creamy head. Aroma of grain, fruit, a mild yeastiness. Very light body, slightly watery texture. Mildly sweet. Flat carbon. Basically a decent weizen, but I expected a bit more.

Looks beautiful: hazy honey/yellow ochre, 3 finger rocky creamy white head and lots sparkling. Head dissipates a bit too fast. Medium strong aroma has yeast, wheat, banana and light spiciness. Medium body and round feel, dry and lightly spicy (little pepper, clove) which stays to long finish, fizzy carbonation, leaves with bit milky feel. Easy to drink and tasty, looks nice. Good!

Hazy orange with a large but fading white head. Aroma of cloves, coriander, bread, lemon, a little banana. Some caramel and peach bubblegum sweetness, not all that bready. Quite dry and spicy finish with a little more bitterness than most. Very refreshing.

Cloudy orange/amber colour, with persistent white head and high carbonation. Lots of banana on the aroma, some citrus and clove. Taste is very rich in banana and citrus. Spice and clove also present.

Bottle from Doener Leesburg. Pours golden with a thin white head. Doesn’t leave much lacing. Banana on the nose and tongue. Clove is faint on the tongue. Runs a bit dry for the style. Finishes clean. Eh!

Brotiger Nachgeschmack.

Draught. Pours hazy orange in color with a whitish head. Fruity banana, some wheat and and light rubbery infused stone fruits in aroma. Notes of banana, some slightly yeasty notes mixed with fruity wheatyness in taste. As the temperature outside was above 10 degrees, yay considering the wintery conditions lately, this seemed like a good thirstquencher for the moment.
