ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Solid hefe, enjoying now with a braught, sauerkraut a and spaetzel. Hard to rate these German hefeweizens, would have to try all at once to really differentiate.

Thin body.Refreshing and less sweet than the average Weizen. I would say that this one tastes a bit more like water and minerals with banana and ripe apple touch.

Appearance: hazy medium gold with two fingers of frothy light tan head diminishing rapidly to nothing, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: banana, bubblegum, coriander, doughy wheat. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, very mild bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium body tending somewhat to watery, moderate carbonation, brief off-dry finish. (3/5) A nice hefeweizen with lunch. Pleasant aroma, balanced taste and a non-intrusive finish. (15/20)

Bottle. Dark yellow and hazy with a full tan frothy head. Overripe bananas, yeast and wheat come the nose. The taste is light sweet. Flavors are somewhat underdeveloped but consist mainly of banana and wheat malts. Some alcoholic warmth comes up in the end and joins the light to medium body with medium carbonation.

Bright golden straw colour with a hue of burnt orange. Thin pure white head, steady stream of carbonation. The aroma is traditional hefe with light bubblegum, banana, coriander, grassy, spicy hops. Beautiful aroma! Very nice flavour, smooth flavour. Crisp citrus and spicy noble hops. Tons of bubblegum, toasted wheat malts, banana. A hint of coriander. Very refreshing and nicely done overall. Smooth, well balanced.

Below average. Very grainy and yeasty in aroma and taste. Missing weizen freshness and aroma. Appearance also is not what I would expect.

A weisse beer worth skipping. Tastes of metal, cornbread, up front sour crispy malts. A pretty crappy beer aside from its respectable aroma.
