ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Gut, aber nicht besonders. Weizen, ein wenig Banane, Gewürze, Hefe, zudem leichte erfrischende Säure. Hat nichts markantes an sich.

Cloudy darle yellow beber, with a nice and stable beige head, the aroma reveal some banana notes as it is expected as well as some floral notes. When is tasted the mal flavors prevail a little bit more than the hops and actually it might get confused with a Berliner weisse. The bitterness from the hops is really superficial and the aftertaste is rather sweet.

Fass - Angenehmes, trübes Weizen, für meinen Geschmack vom Körper etwas zu dünn. Was die fruchtigen Aromen angeht sehr ausgewogen.

Bottle - Cloudy golden colour, large rocky white head, excellent retention. Intense fruity aromas of banana, pineapple, some floral hops. Taste is bread, crushed wheat, banana, yeast, subtle floral hop bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation, smooth texture. Excellent, well rounded hefeweizen.

Dorato medio torbido con buona schiuma bianca e pannosa. Aroma non al top con lievito, banana e spezie. Bene al palato dove la banana si avverte di più, ovviamente dolce ma le spezie e una nota pepata si fa apprezzare. Ben carbonata.

500mL bottle from a mixed gift pack. Best by 04/2016. The aroma has some floral character along with some banana yeast esters. There is also a bit of a white pepper character. Modestly hazy honey-colored body with a larger, strong, pillowy white head present. The start is spritzy without a significant identifiable flavor. Light banana esters, I suppose. Middle has a bit of a husky and chewy malt body, before it finishes with a mineral-like flavor with some metallic notes, too.

Bottle. Nose is yeasty, bread, banana, slightly malty, spice, cloves, hint of pepper. Taste is marzipan, banana, bread, yeast some light spice in the finish. Some vanilla character, and cloves emerge with a hint of orange and lemon. It’s a nice enough example but hard to get excited about it.
