ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass, thank you Björn!! pours a nice orangey gold and decent head. Strong aromas of banannas but very little banana flavor in taste! A well done brew!

Tap at Salon piva KE. Aroma clove, banana, basement, spicy. Hazy golden colour. Moderately stable head. Taste goes in the established direction. Like a classic hefeweiss with a bit of basementy funk to mix it up. Quite good actually, sessionable.

The green banana flavour that is so typical to German Hefe-Weizens is much more subtle than others. And it’s dominated by citrus and mango nuances. It’s also less sweetish - hops are more pronounced, give a dryer character but are a bit dull. A good quality beer but not my Weizen.

Lemon aroma, murky bodied German Hefeweizen. Mild bitterness blends with wheat, bread and earthy flavors well. Went well with Super Bowl XLIX.

Bottle, gift from cafe Vingerhoeds, BB 11-2013, large sample. Slight hazy golden color, huge frothy off-white head. Aroma is spicy, slight banana, more clove, lots of wheat, bit citrus, bit cardboard (it’s a bit old bottle, I know). Bit sweet in taste, slight citrussy bitterness. Finishes spicy and bit dry. Wheat is quite prominent. Still pretty good beer.
