ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

0,5l bottle at home shared by a friend. BB 05/2016. orange cloudy color, rather big white head. smells of spices, herbs, light banana, very light peach, bit peppery. light to medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes a bit watery, caramel, light spices, bit stale, light grassy, has a bit of a weird note. finishes rather light / a bit watery with notes of notes of grass and spices. okish, quite watery for a weizen, maybe freshness related?

Huge, whipped eggwhite-like head, stable, over very carbonated orange beer, veiled. Some clove; fruity esters (a.o. banana, Jamaica pepper), bit of frying oil. Lactic, banana, wheat, sourish grain, graindust, and again just a little touch of clove. Light body with lots of wheatslickness; very carbonated, near fizzy. Rather classical. I expect an Ur- to be slightly darker, amberish.

(Erdinger Urweisse) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a big weizen glass, ABV 4.9% Deep orange colour on the body, cloudy, with a tall and very thick snow white head on top, with very good retention. Aroma of yeast, banana, wheat, smells fresh and inviting. Taste also of wheat of course, banana, pears, light floral notes, yeast, faint clove. Medium body, good carbonation. Pretty good.

Gut, aber nicht besonders. Weizen, ein wenig Banane, Gewürze, Hefe, zudem leichte erfrischende Säure. Hat nichts markantes an sich.

Cloudy darle yellow beber, with a nice and stable beige head, the aroma reveal some banana notes as it is expected as well as some floral notes. When is tasted the mal flavors prevail a little bit more than the hops and actually it might get confused with a Berliner weisse. The bitterness from the hops is really superficial and the aftertaste is rather sweet.
