ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

Tåget mrk gylden med holdbart hvidt skum. Duft af malt, overmoden banan og måske et snert orange. Smagen er maltet med tydelige gærrester og samme elementer som duften. Svag bitterhed og kort eftersmag uden bitterhed.

500ml bottle. Unfiltered orange-tan body, complete with floaties. Massive unruly off-white head. Medium bodied. Not super bright or impressive. Mild yeasty tones. Overall pretty streamlined, a sort of middle of the road wheat. Still decently made, nice pleasant, mellow mouthfeel. Very sessionable but sort of dull and boring.

The great ChrisO pre GBBF gathering. Light haze on this gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth with decent fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, trace of cream. Light wheaty sweetness. Light floralness. Ripe citrus. Light finish. Standard German fayre.

On tap at Prien an Chiemsee. Dark orange color, short white head, persistent. Aroma of wheat, citrus, orange/lime, fair hops, taste is a sharper than regular. Light to medium body, very carbonated, extra dry finish with some bitterness. Quite ok.

Since a long time that I would drink this beer again. In my opinion, it is the best one from erdinger. I bought the bottle at the drink of the world in Zürich, I drank it yesterday in Bonfol. It has the quality of a hefeweizen: wheat, notes of cloves, banana, plum, overall well balanced and nice sweetness in the mouth, middle-low carbonation, brown yellow body, thin foam.

Cloudy amber. Fruity esters, malt and a light spicy character in both aroma and flavour, with a lightly sweet taste with low bitterness and a dry finish. Somewhat full. Medium body, and high carbonation. Overall, a decent weissbier. Weihenstephan still remains the best I have had.
