ERDINGER Urweisse – in good old Bavarian tradition
A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavor and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile - these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavor to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look - which will especially please all friends of the "good old Bavarian tradition". The label features the historic "Beautiful Tower" of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and "scorched" lettering.
Best is to simply taste it for yourself! ERDINGER Urweisse is available in Bavaria from January 1, 2008 and from February 1 in Baden-Württemberg. Presentation cartons are available in the ERDINGER Fan Shop from January onward.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a huge off-white and creamy head. Dry ester aroma, light wheaty too. Medium sweet and fruity estery. Light malty too. Holds a light bitterness into the finish along with a lingering wheaty note.

500ml bottle. Wheat, clove and banana aromas.Pours pale gold, hazy, with thick creamy white head, persistant, some lacing.Medium body and average carbonation. Taste is malty, some acid, cereal flavours. Malty finish. Good one. Said to be brewed with "hybrid fermentation" but no clue about what this may afeccted.

Just mown my lawns and set up the bar-b-que for the main match (USA v England 2010). I thought nice weissbier would allow me to settle down before the guests arrive. 50cl Brown bottle, best before the end of September 2010, poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass. I couldn’t get the whole bottle into the glass (even though I know how to pour a weissbier), such was the size of its head. The body was a cloudy/misty dull golden colour, with trails of bubbles rising to replenish the aforementioned white foaming head. The aroma was of vanilla pods and wheat, I always try to find banana esters in a weissbier, this didn’t release any I could detect. Typical taste, refreshing and thirst quenching, ideal beer to have after some hard labour. Not the best beer I’ve had in this style, but certainly worth trying.

Bottle from mein-biershop.de. Hazy golden color with huge stable white head. Aroma of wheat, banana, yeast. Taste, wheat, banana, yeast, light bitterness in background. Bittersweet finish. Easy drinkable beer.

Bottle.... It pours hazy dark golden with a medium white head..... The aroma is biscuits, bread, banana and fruits... the flavor is banana, yeast, butter and biscuits...... very nice......
