2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.
A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too.
S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad?
T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that’s what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it’s too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects.
M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I’ll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp.
O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn’t actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

Fris Duits witbier. Redelijk licht geel van kleur waar veel Duits witbier wat donkerder is. Licht van smaak en niet al te zoet met fruit tonen.

Probada en botella de 500 ml adquirida en Pinta Point Belgrano, Buenos Aires. Buena weissbier. Típico color amarillo claro, opaco y con espuma medio alta. 7/10.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from AmaCerto ship. Bright yellow pour from .5l bottle with tons of white head. Wheat, malt, corn, citrus and bubblegum aroma. Flavour is very sweet and earthy with high quantities of hay and malt in your face. Medium body but deftly sweet...can’t drink too many of these.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0,5 l bottle, served in weizen glass. Poured cloudy golden with 3 finger slightly off white head. Aromas of cloves, banana, spices, vanilla, caramel, candy sugar. Taste: banana, cloves, spice, vanilla, caramel. Typical hefeweizen but not the best out there. A very watery body. Yeast does produce that typical weizen aromas and taste but very weak and to a poor effect. Especially the taste is lacking. After the initial banana/cloves/spices there is that dry cardboard taste that is very much present. Not the best hefeweizen out there.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2016 Erdinger is the largest wheat beer brewery in the world. Their signature weissbier is typically available almost everywhere but its a fine example of what a nice hefeweizen should be like. I had it from cask in a large Erdinger weizen glass, chilled to around 0 degrees. Colour is light orange and it has a smooth white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, with some zest. In terms of taste and palate, it?s very smooth. There are some banana notes but not as much as people make out. There?s a bread-y presence as well and definitely some nice pumpkin hints as well as butternut squash. The finish is fresh and very sharp. It?s less pure than weihenstephaner or Franziskaner but I enjoy the overall taste of this more than the aforementioned adversaries.

Une blanche assez simple à la robe dorée, fine mousse, nez fruité, assez simple et bouche courte mais équilibrée. Basique mais bien faite.
