2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.
A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too.
S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad?
T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that’s what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it’s too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects.
M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I’ll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp.
O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn’t actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle @ home. Hard to find banana aroma, which is standart for weizen. Some fruit/citrus notes. Hops are missing. Not the best example of weissbier. Won't buy again.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Pours hazy amber with large light brown head that lasts for a couple of minutes with good lacing on the glass. Aroma is of yeast, clove, and alcohol with the slightest hint of banana. Taste is clove with hints of hop bittering and finishing sour. Average carbonation. Overall, a nice but not exceptional weissbier.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle @ home. Pours haxy golden with a white head that disappears quite quickly. Hay, banana, white bread, some clove and green apples and cardboard on the nose. Taste has some creamy sweetness with dried bananas, wheat, dried apples, some cardboard that doesn’t mix well with the nice sticky carbonation. And a really dry aftertaste of even more cardboard.

I like the slight wheat sweetness of this beer. Liquid is golden and head is full. Hops a bit floral and texture a bit creamy. A very nice wheat beer indeed.

Very poor taste for weissbier, dissapointed me. But many woman like this beer for light taste, i prefer more complex wiessbier like legendary Weihenstephaner or Andechs. Don’t want to buy it again!

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours hazy straw, with a large white head. Not much on the nose (very large head), some malts. Hints of malts on the aroma, some fruitiness. Not that bad, but bad for being a weiss.

Can, 50cl. Pours hazy golden color with big, creamy white-off head. Lovely. Aroma is yeast, wheat, bananas, bread, malty sweetness combined with citrus notes. Flavor follows the nose, sweet and fruity, balanced with clear wheat and yeast. Weak hobs. Average carbonation. Medium body. Pretty standard mass produced hefe-weizen, nothing special, still pretty good though.
