The Premium Weissbier at the top of its class. Not only in the context of the Erdinger assortment Erdinger Weissbier with fine yeast applies undisputed as the classical authors, as the white beer absolutely. It is brewed with fine yeast after a delivered prescription and naturally strictly after the Bavarian purity requirement. Today still without the traditional bottle fermentation one does not do here: Three to four weeks it lasts, until the Erdinger Weissbier with fine yeast matured. For the production only finest raw materials are used. Experience of many years and constant quality controls guarantee beyond that the unmistakable taste. A Weissbier for all, those the unforgettable good taste love.

Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too. S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad? T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that’s what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it’s too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects. M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I’ll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp. O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn’t actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

the aroma is not bright, fruity, with hints of yeast, banana and some spices... the taste of wheat malt and banana with notes of yeast, apple and spices... sweet and dry aftertaste...

Tap @ Mata Hari. Cloudy yellow color. Dense white head with a thin layer retention. Aroma’s: sweetish, wheat, light banana. Flavor is light sweet, light wheaty sour. Light bodied. Not much going on in the finish. Not the best of German Hefe-Weizens.

One of those you suddenly realise you haven’t rated. 500ml bottle at Phoebe’s, Jimei, China on 10 June. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of malt with a hint of bubblegum. Sweet finish. Not as good as I remember it from 10 years ago.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2016 Fruity strawberry and stale malt aroma. Huge carbonation and head. Oily and flavor dominated by grassy malts. Pretty bad weizen. So far Pikantus was the only good beer I?ve had from Erdinger. Won?t be trying their others any time soon. Definitely skip this.

Looks good, big, 2-minutes lasting foam, golden-brown color, average carbonation. Smell is like fallen leaves in the sour water in the basement of german uncle Axel, unpleasant. Taste is watery and just a little bit banana, dough and grain. Aftertaste is firstly almost no, but after few swallows something..0. As a result - very poor beer...

Slightly darker than golden, a bit cloudy, lots of bubbles floating to the top. Healthy and stable white head which shows good retention and some lacing. Aroma has soft malts (white bread), strong banana, bubblegum and a hint of lemon. Taste has a soft malts base, fruity esters (mainly banana), a pleasant and not invading bubblegum feel and a hint of clove. Finish is rather dry for the style with maybe a slight grassy note, brings freshness and helps atttenuating the overall obvioulsy sweet feel. Light body, average crispness, smooth and easy but still quite lively mouthfeel. A good Hefe that feels very easy and refreshing but not too sweet.
