2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed 3/6/13. 11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.
A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too.
S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad?
T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that’s what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it’s too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects.
M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I’ll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp.
O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn’t actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

Murky, golden body with a lovely head that was quick to dissapear. Tastes more like a pils, rather than a weizen, no signature bubblegum/banana yeast usually found in weizens, even if it were there, it’s very faint. A bit sour, and at times I felt like I was drinking a random pils. Disappointing to say the least. I got the glass along with the pack though, I can try some real weizens now!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Little bit disappointing to be honest. Cloudy gold colour with a small white head. Mouthfeel starts off creamy but ends up watery. Faint aroma which is more like a Pilsner with grass rather than the expected banana and clove ensemble. Nip of spice in the taste. Average.

Flaska från SB. Generös vit skumkrona, ljusgul lite grumlig färg. Frisk lite söt doft. Lätta smaker av bananskum, söt malt och druva. Lättdrucken med lite krispighet. Obefintlig beska och eftersmak.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
0,5l bottle. Aroma is hard to decide. Very little aroma. Hazy, golden colour. Slightly caramel head. Short. Taste is also minimal. Very anonymous. Slightly sour, but mostly watery. The reason for its popularity amongst some of my friends? It’s incredibly easy to drink. Nothing to challenge the taste buds, hence boring and dull.

Draft 0.33ml @ Rio, Greece
Smells acidic, a bit like Berliner Weisse, not fruity at all, no clove or other spice. Infected beer lines??? No esters at all, nothing on the nose... If it was another style I might enjoyed the smell, I was almost hoping that it would be a sour beer(but it wasn’t).
Orange to amber color, hazy with amazing white, dense, lingering head.
Taste is wheaty, a bit spicy, not bad, nice mouth feel. Medium to light body, medium to high carbonation.

Lovely example of a weissbier, cloudy, excellent creamy white head, nose of malt and warm bread. Must be poured correctly and in the correct Erdinger glass otherwise these characters are lost. I’m amazed at some of the previous comments about it tasting wheaty....it’s a wheat beer it tastes like a wheat beer. Not to everybody’s taste but a great example

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours slightly hazy dark golden with a thick, stable white head. Aroma is yeasty, bready, slightly malty. Nothing to make that much of a fuss about. Taste is moderately sweet with a soft bitterness. Bready as well, bananas, cloves, yet all too subtle, making it a bit bland to me. Wheaty finish as well. Decent, but still not that overwhelming... Medium bodied, thinnish texture (yet there is a nice creamy mouthfeel) and moderately carbonated. Good as a thirst quencher on the warmer days or during a bbq... It sure is somewhat tasty, but there are better, more appealing Hefeweizeners in the world.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured from a .5L bottle. The color was hazy yellow... almost orange color (not quite). Thick foamy head. A bit of a grassy flavor. Slightly bitter finish. A little watery. Better than average hefe.
