COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewery folklore tells a story about a train engineer with a passion for the taste of Railbender Ale. With every stop he made in Erie came an equal number of stops at our brewery. One extended visit to our fermenter left the engineer in a rather befuddled state of mind. On his fateful trip out of Erie that evening, his train mysteriously derailed. The engineer swears that a huge black cherry tree had fallen across the tracks as the culprit. No such tree was ever found, but the front of the locomotive was spattered with hundreds of red sports. In tribute to this folklore our expert brewers introduce Derailed Black Cherry Ale – brewed with fresh sweet black cherries and the finest malted barley to create a truly cherrylicious ale. Please enjoy responsibly, as we would never want you to get derailed!

Bottle. Lactic cherry malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet-tart black cherry malt flavor. Nicely balanced. Tasty.

12oz bottle pours copper with gold hues and short lived white head. The aroma is very mild with faint berry and malt sweetness. The taste presents sweet malts and sweet dark cherries rounded out initially by a dash of carbonation enhanced tannins. By midway the malts and berryness come to a peak and mingling in modest somewhat restrained harmony. Nice. It gets a tad too sweet into the finish. This beer has limited depth, decent enough flavor and should prove particularly tasty on a hot day.

Bottle. Pours a amber peach body with a light white pink hued head. Aroma is a bit dank like staled mildewed malt and musky black cherries. Mildly sweet upfront then a more grainy dull malt bill to back up the short lived sweetness. Thin and very short lived in terms of flavor and aroma. I would pass on another one.

pours copper/orange, white head. Aroma of cherry juice, light caramel and malts. Flavor, sparkly mouthfeel with fruits that reminds me of cherry juice, light hints of sweetness along the lines of a wine cooler. Some hints of malts with some lingering bitter fruits in the finish.

4/6/13. 12oz bottle from Grassroots. Light amber orange pour with a giant off-white head that fades to a film fast but laces decently. Artificial cherry, cream, corn, and unwanted tartness in the aroma. Artificial cherry flavor with a lame light beer base. Meh.

Bottle:   Translucent pink, very pale and clear, large fluffy white head, nice lacing, mild carbonation.   Either filtered or not made with real cherries.   Biscuity cherry flavored nose, graham cracker of the cherry variety.   Pectin as well.   Yeah, smells like freezer jam.   Almost has a cherry, strawberry, and raspberry grab-bag of flavors.   Certainly artificial, but not terribly bad.   Reminds me of cereal sweetened with jam.   This is like a golden or blonde sweetened with jam.   Yeah, hot steam coming from the jam on the stove, coupled with that pectin stuff.   Totally.   Makes me thinking I am drinking the runnings off my mothers freezer jam.   Brings back memories, but for a beer... meh, tiz okay.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Probably would go great with a salad.   Decent light fruit beer that isn’t too artificial.

Draught: Aroma of cherry and black cherry. Poured rose/pink in color with a small, loose, white/pink head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of cherry, black cherry, malts, and slight caramel. Medium body. Dry, thin texture. Average carbonation. Black cherry and malt finish is sweet and dry.

Thanks to Tedwarhc for this bottle. Served in a tulip. Pours a bright light pinkish-orange color with a large fizzy, soda-like head that falls quickly into a very thin collar. Nose brings forward some fake cherry character and not much else. The flavor is strange with some artificial cherry and almost tastes like a cherry Tootsie Roll without the chocolate. Light body and plenty of carbonation. Interesting, but not something I’d drink very much of. Serving type: bottle

Bottle. Pours orangey pink with a white head. Fruity sweet aroma, cherry dominates, with a wheaty hint. The flavor is sweet but not cloying. Decent.
