Beer Stories
Brewery folklore tells a story about a train engineer with a passion for the taste of Railbender Ale. With every stop he made in Erie came an equal number of stops at our brewery. One extended visit to our fermenter left the engineer in a rather befuddled state of mind. On his fateful trip out of Erie that evening, his train mysteriously derailed. The engineer swears that a huge black cherry tree had fallen across the tracks as the culprit. No such tree was ever found, but the front of the locomotive was spattered with hundreds of red sports. In tribute to this folklore our expert brewers introduce Derailed Black Cherry Ale brewed with fresh sweet black cherries and the finest malted barley to create a truly cherrylicious ale. Please enjoy responsibly, as we would never want you to get derailed!

A decent fruit beer (for a fruit beer).Aroma was like a bowl full of Fruity Pebbles soaking in a wheat beer. Pour was a nice light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was good but just like the same old fruit beer. A wheat beer with a nice berry aftertaste. Little carbonation hurt the beer. Not bad.

Decent light beer for the hot weather. Pours a light hazy yellow with a big head. The aroma is fruity with cherries and malt. Flavor is tart and light. Thin finish and easy to drink. Best ice cold.

Poured from an undated 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: slightly hazy pale copper with a faint reddish tint. The small white head dissipates rather rapidly leaving just a ring and decent lacing. Smell: light, sweet malt aroma with a subtle cherry character that seems more natural than artificial. Taste: light malt flavor with a fair bit of sweetness. The cherry is less subtle, and more tart (thankfully) than anticipated from the nose. Mouthfeel: medium-light body; medium carbonation; smooth Overall: a decent cherry ale; just dont expect a lambic or kriek.

@ Party Town / Florence KY - Hazy medium amber, white head cover, streaks of lace. Aroma is interesting - malt with a bit of maple. Taste is routine malt that moves effortlessly (without complexity) through the palate before adding a bit of cherry in the finish. Drawback: tart cherry lingers till the very end, masking any other flavor. Reasonable, not great.

Glad others are mentioning the carbonation and gushing cuz I was afraid! It did mildly gush when I popped it, but I was able to get it poured, albeit slowly. Big foaming head, golden color. Musty nose with hints of cherry and earth, otherwise restrained. Tart cherries show up at the front in the flavor leading into a grainy middle and a mildly bitter finish, which is dry and almost flavorless. Fizzy mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours a pinkish amber with a bit of a fizzy head. Aromas of tart cherries and an almost rye & wheat-like malt presence. Flavor is heavy on the cherries... black cherries with just a little bit of pie cherries thrown in to add some tartness. This beer is not a rough and tumble beer, but I kinda like it... This is a really good fruit beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a reddish tint and a thick bubbly white head. Aroma of light roasted and caramel malts, and sweet cherries. Taste is cherry syrup, light caramel malt, earthy hops, and slightly watered down.
