Presented with a tempting aroma of toffee and malt. The flavor, however, was muted and the texture was thin.

12oz bottle from world of beer in tampa. dark brown pour with a finger of light brown head. somewhat muted aroma of roasted malt and dark chocolate. flavors of chocolate and coffee - but not getting any of the oatmeal. thin to medium texture with a milky metallic bite on the finish. pretty straightforward here. pleasant enough - just not a lot going on.

Black with medium brown head that sticks around a bit. Smooth roast aroma. Taste is a good kick of smoke to go along with medium roast and some coffee. Solid for sure. A tad thin.

Draft at capones. Pours a black abyss with a creamy coffee head. Nice oatmeal and chocolate, with a coffee aroma. Creamy sweet almost cherry coffee with oats and licorice. This was enjoyable.

Tap @ Green Dragon... Poured black with a thin, light brown head. Lots of coffee in the aroma. Silky, smooth palate with lots of roasted malts, a diary/yogurt-like character, and a little alcohol bitterness. Hops weren’t present at all.

Not Sammy Smiths, but still very good. nice dark opaque color and sweet nutty oatmeal flavor. Good one that i would recommend stout lovers to try.

(bottle - 12 oz) Very dark brown, almost black, with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee and malts with a hint of cream and oatmeal. Flavor begins very light with some dark malts and chocolate. The oats are very prevalent in the middle but the flavor begins to fade quickly. A mild bitterness comes to the palate and stays there along with a light touch of cocoa. Could use more body, but otherwise has good flavor.

Bottle. Pours a thick and dark brown with a finger or so of tan head. My first impressions of aroma are that it is sweet and slightly fruity, which had me a little confused. As it sat for a couple of minutes, it picked up a lot more dark malt aromas: chocolate and oats with a little bit of a dark fruit backdrop still perceptible. So far this is off to a good start. Flavor is smooth and fairly well-balanced, which is a bit of a surprise for me since most Erie brews have struck me as highly astringent and just a little off. This has a very nice roasted malt complex with a smooth texture and a little bit of a creamy sweetness. Every now and then it seems to fall apart a bit and comes off as a little thin, but all things considered, this is a good stout.
