bigbeersilove (10), lansing, Michigan, USA Mar 30, 2008 12oz btl. pours slick black with a nice tan head that looks a little looser than i would have expected. aroma is roasted coffee and wood. light smoke and cream on the front, followed by sweet oat, coffee and cream on the back. very loose, light mouth-feel, and easy finish. my first thought is that as an oatmeal stout this one is not what i like. BUT one of the things i like about erie brewing, is that they try to take people into and everyday exploration of beers that they normally wouldn’t drink. i think its a really nice bridge beer taking people out of their happy "fizzy yellow" box and showing them something different to look at and drink.
jjpm74 (2760), Connecticut, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle courtesy of beerman6686. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, hints of nuts. Tastes sweet and malty with some roasty hints on the finish. Pretty good. Funknmilla (489), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 12oz bottle...aroma--cocoa and paint thinner...pours dark brown with a crazy head of brown sugar...thin body with a tinge of metal...a muddled cherry and bitterness to the cherry...some toffee and a chalky mouth feel..its ok to pound down...not great...probably wouldn’t buy again...but the bottle may be bad??...so that would be the only time to retry , but not anytime soon swoopjones (1048), Buffalo, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Sample @ Village Beer Merchants Erie Tasting.
