12oz bottle. Golden-orange colored, with little lasting head. Mild but potent malty aroma. The taste is big and rich, covering the palate in thick sweetness. Slightly yeasty and pungent in the Bock style. A little crisp balancing hops even it out and keep it drinkable, especially at 8.5%. A great Maibock, another well done seasonal from Erie.

Jun 19, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz bottle. Amber in color with a small off white head. Aroma is alot of caramel, some fresh bread, toasted malts, light fruit and some light spicy noble hops. Taste has alot of caramel, toasted malts, some dark fruit, as well as a moderate spicy hop bitterness and flavor. Medium bodied.

May 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle. First of 2008 season. Pours golden with slight amber hues, little head which quickly dissipates to nothing. Nose is quite bready with notes of sweet caramel and slight fruit. Flavor is mild caramel with grainy bread. Lots of alcohol taste with honey and moderate bitterness for the style. It has decent mouth feel, but something seems off. Not very complex, maybe a bit too much bitterness and hop flavor. not bad, but not a stand out.

May 27, 2008 Bottle. Pour is fairly orange and the head is fluffy and sits around a half finger high. Aromas are sweetish and a little dusty... honey and dough with some grain dust. Flavor is sticky and sweet with a very heavy honey direction. Interestingly, Golden Fleece lacks the astringent alcohol that I find in most Erie brews and I’m finding it more enjoyable for that reason. Still, it comes off as a little thin for the genre.

May 15, 2008 A solid brew. It’s aroma is sweet, full of honey, sweet fruit, and sweet malts. It’s an orangish-golden color, with a thin white head. The flavor is sweet, with a nice malty taste, some sweet honey, and some fruit taste. It’s very smooth, a good session, but at 8.5% what this might not be an all nighter.

May 4, 2008 Bottle pours a orangish golden color with a small white creamy head that disappeared quickly. Aroma has some sticky sweetness with a slight bitter bit. The flavor is pretty light for a Maibock. A little bit of alcohol, some grainy bitterness and a very neutral sweetness. Not bad, but not great.
