3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PorterPounder (4634) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 7, 2013
Jacksonville, Fl - Grassroots Natural Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma has a nice nuttiness to it, some coffee and chocolate. Flavor is full bodied and bold. Nice nutty, cola-like tones, some chocolate, coffee and plenty of roastiness. Nice thick and chalky mouthfeel. One of the more flavorful alts I have had - pleasant surprise!

355mL from Grassroots Market is Jax, Fl. Thanks drowland for the gift card! Pours a clear, dark cola red looking near black in the glass. Larger beige head leaves webby lacing. Nose is roasted grain, chocolate, mild coffee, hazelnut. Taste is light, clean, easy to drink schwarzbier like with roast, coffee, hazelnut, some brown sugar. A bit too roasty for altbier, would do well as schwarzbier. Solid, no flaws.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drowland (4999) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - JAN 19, 2013
1/19/2013. 12oz bottle from Grassroots Natural Market. Deep brown pour, plenty of red under the light, under a small khaki head that fades to a ring. Chocolate and maltiness in the aroma with a nice creamy flavor with more chocolate and maltiness. It’s almost like a really smooth brown ale. Tasty!
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 redpooba (375) - New York, USA - JAN 16, 2013
A rubyred with a crisp off-white head. Aroma is malted-raspberries. The flavor is full bodied and complex. This is probably their best beer.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 LetsGoState (525) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 8, 2012
Aroma is a sweet malt. Taste is very sweet. Overall a little too sweet for me.

This one has a malty balance- not hoppy like some. It resembles a nutty dark beer- full bodied for an alt. It’s one of Erie’s best.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PGHbeer77 (483) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2012
12 oz. Bottle. Decent altbier. Lots of bang for your buck. Dark malt scent with hints of licorice. Dark brown/black pour with zero head or lacing (my low point for this one). Light/med bodied, silky texture. Coffee malt taste that tasty and solid, but pretty one dimensional.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JawVer (39) - - JUN 15, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown/black. Stout-like in appearance but flavor is lacking. Will not try again
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Westmeister (991) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bottle. Based on the infrequent ratings as of recent this may be an older bottle, but I have yet to rate an alt so here it goes. Pours a dark ruddy brown with nonexistent head, just a tan ring. Smell is pretty sweet caramel, some dark fruits, very malty, nutty. Taste was a much more watered down version on the reasonably strong nose. Nutty, sweet caramel maltiness, some lite coffee, not much bitterness. Ok.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hypn0toad (254) - Maryland, USA - APR 23, 2012
Decent. Dark tasting. Sharp smell. Almost burnt taste. Initially I thought this was too bitter. But then I changed my mind, and I like it more now. Maybe I should bump this up a couple 0.1s. Yeaa erie beers! They’re getting snow now. That sucks, its late april now.
