Beer Stories
Each of Erie Brewing Company’s finely handcrafted beers have been named for a local person or story associated with the rich history of the city of Erie and “Johnny Rails Pumpkin Ale” was no exception. When bestowing a name upon the new pumpkin brew, many ideas were kicked around. The one that stuck was the nickname of one of our own Erie Brewing staff, “John.” As hardworking as the Railbenders who built our railroad, Johnny Rails, with his blond hair, skinny body, wiry strength, and “BIG” head was the perfect fit. Thus, the beer’s name was born.

Bottle into a snifter. 2.5 A: Mildly hazed medium orange color with a brown tint. Less than one finger of frothy beige head that falls almost immediately and leaves no lacing. 2.75 S: Very mild aroma. Pumpkin with cinnamon and ginger but not enough of any of them. Otherwise, not much going on. The malts are very mild and offer just a hint of caramel. 2.5 T: For as mediocre as the nose is, the taste is mediocre-er. Faint pumpkin and spice and otherwise watery and uninteresting. 2.25 M: Light to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Watery without creaminess. 2.25 D: Pretty shitty. ★ 613 characters DavoleBomb, Jan 13, 2016

has a bit of a grassy malt aroma maybe mixed in with a bit of spice. Taste is a standard spice blend, mostly nutmeg for a pumpking brew. Kinda a thin body. They need to tone down their deScription, because there are plenty of better pumpkin brews out there.

Bottle. Burnt dark gold. Aroma is pumpkin pie. The taste follows with tangy fruit notes and a cinnamon finish. The mouthfeel is on the thin side. Decent pumpkin brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
