3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BigBeer45 (1118) - Michigan, USA - AUG 2, 2012
Bottle,
this ale had a clear copper-orange pour and made a small faint off-white head that receded to a partial cover and thin ring rather quickly, this drink left some small spots and fingers of lacing on the glass,
this IPA had aromas of toasted malt and bread with light citrus hops, malt and fruit sweetness,
this beer had light to medium flavors of toasted malt and light bread with a little hop bitterness,
the finish had a some hop bitterness with some malt flavor trailing afterwards,
the mouth feel was less than medium with average carbonation,
this IPA was on the malt side of things, not much hops on the nose and a little more hops on the palate, a pretty simple IPA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Holy (817) - GERMANY - JUL 14, 2012
Bottle purchased in the middle of Alabama... this beer caught me completely off guard - was expecting the typical citrus/grapefruit/etc/etc. This has much more caramel in the sip - not bad, just unexpected!
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hypn0toad (254) - Maryland, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Oh Erie. You and your one brewery . This is an okay beer. Not outstanding but also not horrible.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 reebtogi (3267) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 27, 2012
355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a 2 finger off-white head that retains quite well leaving some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is loaded with grassy hops with some citrus and light caramel. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with some citrus and earthy hop bitterness. The heavy maltiness seems to stray this from being a true IPA, nonetheless, this is still quite a tasty brew.
3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerlover82 (206) - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 12, 2012
Beautiful dark copper, with a creamy and bubbly white head, about a finger or so thick. Very nice retention, and thick bubbly white lacing. Very nice.
Falls flat on the nose, however. Can’t really detect anything. So I’m not going to bother.
Rather dull. There is a good sharp bitter hoppiness that is detectable, and it seems to be the kind of brutal sharp and bitter hoppiness that hardcore hopheads desire but can’t get in a lot of DIPAs, but it’s all for nothing as there are stale bread tastes, and a lifelessness I can’t put my finger on.
Medium body, with lots of carbonation to carry the tastes through.
Overall, I think this is an IPA that has/had potential, especially for the hophead like me. But it just falls short, and ends up being rather average.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Itzjerm (584) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - MAR 6, 2012
It seems this may be a bad bottle. Not sure... skunky kind of hoppy aroma... taste slight hops more skunk. But it is called misery bay... so maybe thats what I’m supposed to be "enjoying" misery?
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (3052) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 1, 2012
Draft pint. Copper with a small ring of bubbles. Mild aroma of molasses. Taste is earthy toffee and light resin. Light-medium body is balanced by the earthy hop.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 PGHbeer77 (483) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle. An average IPA. Not bad for the price. Misery Bay had very little aroma, just a faint hop and the smallest whiff of malt. The translucent copper appearance held little to no head that quickly faded and very subtle lacing. The med-light bodied palate had a sticky texture, and the taste was a slight citrus hop front followed by a bitter biting finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 coolpop (1163) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - FEB 9, 2012
Bottle. Pours coppery amber with a smallish off-white head. Aroma is earthy hops and some malt. Flavor is earthy hops, caramel, good bitter/sweet balance. Medium palate, slightly slick.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Atom (1003) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 2, 2012
12oz bottle from Secret Santa, pours an amber/orange with a thin white head. Aroma of earthy caramel malt, no hops here. Taste is malt forward with a slight hop spice. Pretty uninteresting.
