| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2009 Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Clear reddish copper color with a thin beige head. Aromas of caramel and fruit. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is berry or cherry over light roasted caramel. More barley wine than scotch - not getting much smoke. Smooth finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 6, 2009 A very unique Scotch ale. Flavors were rich and sweet and strawberry overtones were noticeable. Overall smooth and less thick than most of this style. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2009 This is one of the reddest ales I have seen. There is a nice beige head and a caramel malt aroma. There is a rich caramel flavor with much bitterness and a slight alcohol trail. shawn14505 (34), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2009 12oz bottle. Smooth drinking strong ale. Does not really have a smokey character as I have come to expect from a Scotch Ale, but this is still good in its own way. Much less hop character than an IPA, this brew instead focuses on the malty backbone. Butterscotch finish. Very good beer. Deserves more than a 64 overall rating. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Pours clear dark amber with a modest off white head and few lacings. Aroma is caramel. Taste is dark caramel, chocolate cherries, and an earthy hop bitter finish. Mouthfeel is alright but drinkability at 10% abv is too much for me. Reminds me a bit of drinking Port wine. Too much alcohol for this kid. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Bottle. Sweet fruity aroma. Deep reddish body, light tan head. Sweet malty flavor with fruit. Very nice lengthy finish. nick76 (2657), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 12, 2009 The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel, chocolate, nuts, and hops. The appearance is deep amber with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with an alcohol finish. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a well made beer that hides the alcohol pretty well.
