Beerlando (2286), Orlando, Florida, USA Nov 30, 2008 Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a clear, dark, reddish-amber color with a small, foamy, cream colored head. Virtually no lacing shows on the glass. The aroma gives a sweet, malty caramel base, followed by faint hints of cocoa and smoked dark fruits. There’s a bit of floral hoppiness as well, but not enough to counter the saccharine overtone. Flavors follow suit, sweet caramel dominating the fruity, smoky elements. Moderate in body and carbonation, the finish ends on the syrupy side. There’s nothing special going on here. Boring. Tmoney99 (4663), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle from World of Beer, Clearwater, FL.
Poured clear reddish-brown color with an average fizy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate butterscotch malty aroma. Medium body and a smooth texture. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
This is an average brew.
adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2008 Pours a clear amber copper with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of candied sugar and sweet malt. Taste of candied sugar, sweet malt and some dark fruit. Not bad for a scotch ale. Snoop59 (69), Penn Run, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a dark reddish-brown color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to a ring of bubbles but resurrects with a slight swirl of the snifter. Fair lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, some caramel, dark fruits and just a hint of alcohol. Initial taste of sweet malt followed by a roasted, somewhat peppery flavor. The dark fruits come through as plums and raisins The caramel notes come through in the finish. More alcohol in the flavor than the aroma but not nearly as warming as might be expected for a beer with such a high ABV. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 [1374-20080518] Tap. Very faint grain aroma, not much there. Clear, dark red brown body with a quick creamy light tan head. Boozy ripe fruit grain flavour has undertones of malt throughout. Medium-full body. Average.
