Jan 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Deep amber beer with a thin white head. Very sweet caramelly malt aroma. A little bit of herbal/spicy hop flavour over a chewy sweet maltiness. Earthy and leathery with a rich sweet, slightly warming finish. Decent brew.

Jan 2, 2008 (12oz bottle) Small beige head atop clear coppery red body. Aroma is moderately sweet, fruity (cherry, strawberry, light watermelon), light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry/strawberry, caramel, some alcohol warming. Medium-full body, light syrup.

Jan 2, 2008 Brownich amber with no head. Dangerous. Does not taste like 10% Smooth and caramelly but some odd flavor as well. Some dirt and woods with the a hint of hops. Does not taste like a scotch ale to me.

Dec 30, 2007 I was impressed with this beer. It could be a bit more carbonated, however it has great character and the alcohol content is masked well for not being overly sweet. I drank 5 and felt great.

Dec 28, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a great shade of amber-red with a caramel, fizzy head that dissipates rather quickly. Decent lacing. Huge malt nose with a touch of spice. Carmel and nut, maybe some cinnamon and such. Big caramel taste with some nutty character, then some fruit esters, berry and grape, with a mildly bitter ending with some spice and lots of alcohol. Good warmth, lingering well into the after of nut, spice and caramel. Pretty decent. Would do well with a bit of age on it.

Dec 27, 2007 Draft at Smokin Joes in Pittsburgh. Pours a vivid red with and off white head. Aroma of sweet malts. Initial flavor of caramel and nuts, but has a sweet berry like fruitness mid palate. There was some type of odd mineral or wood type flavor on the finish that was distracting. Alcohol was fairly subdued for a beer of this ABV.

Dec 24, 2007 Poured a clear deep golden brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma had a full sweet caramel malt to it and a hint of hops. Sweet malty and nutty flavor. Seemed to have a little citrus in it. Medium to full bodied and almost sticky. Decent warmth in the chest.

Dec 8, 2007 extra points for the highi acl content. It is very well hidden. And for a beer this high (in alcohol). It had a really nice flavor.
Erie makes some damn good beer.
