A great beer from a brewer that usually brews good but not great beers. The proper russet amber with an off white creamy head that holds it’s shape above the rim and laces nicely. Aroma of fresh bread and carmel. Complex sweet carmel taste balanced perfectly with the proper bitter hops finish. A personal favorite, but unfortunately a seasonal brew. Too much kick for a summertime lawnmower brew.

I was impressed with this beer. It could be a bit more carbonated, however it has great character and the alcohol content is masked well for not being overly sweet. I drank 5 and felt great.

Dark reddish amber with a nice creamy white head. Rich malty caramel aroma, similar strong malty caramel and sweet flavors, creamy mouthfeel, decent hops in the finish. Pleasant surprise to find this at the bar this past weekend.

I am not a big fan of this brewer and this is the first time I have had this beer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark mahogany color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma if fruity and hoppy. The flavor is bitter floral hops with molasses, ripe fruity and dry chocolate. Despite the strong hops this beer has a rather "Belgian" character to it. It hides the 9.3% alcohol quite well.

A lightly sedimented but transparent, rich amber color with a thin, bone-colored head. Tons of rich, crystallized sugar and caramel in the nose with some tropical hops and fruity malt and alcohol all there. Flavor has many but not all of the aroma components and the sweetness is balanced by a dry, burnt caramel and a smack of bitterness. The alcohol, malt, and bitterness all trail into a long finish. This is an extra fine interpretation of a Scotch ale.

I liked it! Unlike many raters who rate a beer according to their particular taste, I try to rate a beer on it’s faithfulness to style. This is a good attempt at a big Scottish Ale. Sweet, not too hoppy, and high in alcohol fits my bill. Luscious hop flavor blended with caramel malts is a winner. I’d like this recipe.

(bottle - 12 oz) Sampled from a bottle at Gunner’s Tavern in St. Mary’s, PA. Dark red color with a very thin tan head. Aroma is light with some candy sugar, malts, alcohol, and some cherries maybe? Flavor is very interesting. It begins slightly sweet and malty with a very dry middle and an extremely dry finish with a little bit of alcohol and malts.
