alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Nov 7, 2009 Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a hazy amber color with a small white head. The aroma, which wasn’t very strong, included moderately sweet caramel, some fruits but not much else. The flavor had me wandering what style this was. It was drinkable, but lacked that something that said this is a (insert style). Lightly sweet upfront before showing more bitterness in the back. Caramel, earthy, some biscuity character, with a touch of fruits. Tom thought this won a gold medal somewhere??? cmonster (73), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 25, 2009 Bottle served in a pint. I think i got one of the gold medal batches as I don’t know why this is rated here so low. Dark orange-brown in color. Large off-white head with very little lacing. Malty scottish ale aroma. Light-medium body and some carbonation. A little thin perhaps. Smooth, malty finish. This is a sessionable ale.I would quaff on a cold, rainy day. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2009 12 oz bottle from Spirits RB. Poured a deep reddish brown with a small to average size white frothy head. Aroma of earth, citrus, chocolate and white grapes. Full bodied with average carbonation that fizzes up when sipped and really gives this one an extra full mouthfeel. Flavor of toffee, chocolate, bread and citrus with a touch of white grape juice. Not bad but nothing special. RONCOD (104), Uledi, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2009 Medium amber color with a very thin head. The flavor was a malty caramel taste with some hops in the end. Overall, a very good beer. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Oct 23, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a one finger head. The smell is floral hops over a bready malt. The taste has a malt backbone with floral hops over the top, however, not very bitter. The mouthfeel is of low carbonation and is slightly creamy. twindog (69), Hampstead, Maryland, USA Oct 18, 2009 This beer just ok , not to much going on here . This would be a good everyday beer. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Oct 17, 2009 This is a better Scottish ale then the ratings would indicate. Malty, yeasty, sweet molasses aroma from a clear amber pour. The flavor is sweet malt and molasses with a nice earthiness. Very little bitterness as is the style. A bit thin at the end but a good version nonetheless. blindeyedbetty (148), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle pours a watery copper color with dense, large head that leaves intricate lacing as it dissipates. Aroma is of wet, green hay. Flavor is like sucking on a stalk of wheat in August. I bought this beer because of the cool and interesting label, and now see that that’s the best thing about it. It does have a cool label though.
