First flavor impression is very plain, with a sweet malt flavor. Very little hops, thin carbonation. Aroma is not the most pleasent. The initial flavor is a bit boring then followed by the slight sweetness you would expect. The flavor of the alcohol comes out in the aftertaste. Aside from being on the potent side there is not really anything here you haven’t had before. Not worth broadening horizons for. Gooney (57), Oregon, USA

Pours a clear amber, nice off-white head that doesn’t stick around very long. Aroma is sweet, caramel, malt, just like the description. Flavor is more of the same, nice toffee/caramel, malt, sweet, but not in a bad way, maybe a touch of faint raisin hiding in the background. kassner (441), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

Big malt flavors, full flavors, Amber color, roasted , a bit on the sweetside with lots of ketones and a nice funky edge. MarkBarnes (266), Waterville, New York, USA

Burnt sugar-sweet malts, caramel, slightly oily, palate notable for its bitterness (more a product of alcohol than of hops). A The distinctly-medicinal/Southern Comfort-y flavor could be off-putting to some. Shades of Autumn . . . might be nice on a crispier evening, but I wouldn’t seek this out. bhensonb (4245), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Dark amber color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is slightly roasted caramel over some sort of hoppiness. Medium body with coarse, fizzy carbonation. Flavor is somewhat bready caramel with very mild hop spiciness. Finish is a contrast of harsh roasted malt and spicy hop. Good drink, but a bit less than overwhelmingly tasty. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 25, 2008 Aroma and flavor said raisins and malts to me. Both were decently executed but not very complex and were slightly over done. Pour was a nice darker amber with an off white head. Sweetness and doughiness overwhelmed any bitterness in the beer. Overall and nice refreshing beer but not one I will visit often.
