Very nice easy drinking on draft at Magoo’s. Big malt flavors, full flavors, Amber color, roasted , a bit on the sweetside with lots of ketones and a nice funky edge.

Aug. 27, 2008; 12 oz. bottle. Had this pegged for a Marzen on first viewing/tasting. Burnt sugar-sweet malts, caramel, slightly oily, palate notable for its bitterness (more a product of alcohol than of hops). A The distinctly-medicinal/Southern Comfort-y flavor could be off-putting to some. Shades of Autumn . . . might be nice on a crispier evening, but I wouldn’t seek this out.

Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Dark amber color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is slightly roasted caramel over some sort of hoppiness. Medium body with coarse, fizzy carbonation. Flavor is somewhat bready caramel with very mild hop spiciness. Finish is a contrast of harsh roasted malt and spicy hop. Good drink, but a bit less than overwhelmingly tasty.

Aroma and flavor said raisins and malts to me. Both were decently executed but not very complex and were slightly over done. Pour was a nice darker amber with an off white head. Sweetness and doughiness overwhelmed any bitterness in the beer. Overall and nice refreshing beer but not one I will visit often.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is all malt, caramel, honey, biscuit and toast. Medium body. Flavor is sweet, with toffee and biscuits. Very minimal hop profile. Not bad.

On tap in Mahwah B&G, nice, smooth full bodied ale. Scottish ale? Alt? Not quite sure. Lots of malt- virtually no hops. It’s a devil in disguise with 6.8 % abv. Deceivingly smooth.

For some reason this beer reminds me of college, even though I just had it for the first time. Pretty decent but nothing to write home about. Nice dark color, interesting flavor. Not exactly what I expected but good nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours ruby reddish with sweet malty & fruity aroma. Flavor is sweeter malts with light hops & fruitiness. Not abad beer by any means just needed a little more bitterness to tone down the sweetness
