Dark orange in color with medium head and nice lacing. Barely any aroma. Taste was a nice nutty and sweet flavor and a little malty. Very smooth and clean. Pretty tame but overall it was a great flavor.

Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is light with and almost undetectable except for some slight note of malt. Flavor is mild with caramel malt and some hop. Finish is light.

12 oz bottle, D’s 6-pack Pittsburgh. Pours a crystal clear orangish copper body under a fizzy and foamy beige head. Lots of visible carbonation. The nose is lightly malty with a slightly off soapy character. Some moderate butterscotch, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is full of buttery diacetyl, a little butterscotch, and a little alcohol. Not a very pleasant beer. Mouthfeel is slick and a little sticky with moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was a trouble ridden beer. Certainly a waste of money.

A lightly hazed amber ale with a thin creamy white head. A sweet caramel aroma with light vinous notes, and warming alcohol. In mouth, a good caramel malt base with some decent British hopping, not floral or citrusy, warming alcohol finish. Bought at Party Source Fall 2006.

I have had better but this was nonetheless a good ale not really an old ale. Tastes of caramel and hops with a nice amber orange colour its enjoyable.

From Erie Brewing, an underrated local brewery. This is my first old ale style. Uncooked bread dough aroma with a little fermenting fruit hints. Pours with a slight haze and the color of dark apple cider. Only an annulus around the edge of the glass as far as a head goes and it is beige white. The initial hit is impressive with its anti-sweet nimiety. It is telling you there is alcohol in this brew. Very malty with some hops present, strong personality in my maw. I hear there are three types of old ale, I wonder which is this? Finish is lingering for a while , hints of sourness but the bitter forte drowns it out.

Amber pour with a head of medium sized white bubbles. Aroma is caramel and just a touch of bitterness. Flavor is a little bit of corn along with the weak caramel. Body is watery. This is a very weak example of a watery old ale.

Light amber; small, silky, white head; light lacing. Aroma of light fruit, floral and slightly piney hops; malt and caramel. Flavor is nondescript malt and caramel; overbitter; unbalanced. Medium-thin body and moderately sticky. This beer sucks.
