12/30/06: Bottle.
Orange-red-golden body. Stanky aroma of stale soap. Eick! Stale hop flavor of major yuck-age. (rating #626... my favorite little creature from Disney)!!

Pours a clear amber body and an off-white head. Smells of caramel and slightly floral. Flavor is caramel and floral. Decent body.

Pours gold with absolutely no head. The aroma is mostly malt, with not much else. The flavor is a bit sour, with a grainy taste.

Clear amber. Smells malty and biscuity with not too much roasted taste or smell. Somewhat bitter and malty. Smooth.

A great looking nondescript ale that is on the sweet side. Drinking this on a hot day made the beer became cloying after awhile.

Had this @ The Old Bag of Nails pub while watching the Bucks dismantle Georgetown on their way to the NCAA men’s basketball finals. Nose of mostly cereal, with a light hops spice. Pours a hazy golden. The tall frothy off-white head is mostly lasting, and leaves no lace. The toasty flavor is kinda sweet and toasty. Well balanced with a moderate floral finish. Non offensive but loose. The body is light, dry and soft. The finish feels crisp.

Bottles from a seemingly dusty six pack from Shoreline Beverage (Huntington, NY). I’m comparing two different bottles here. Both poured a clear amber color with a frothy off-white head. However, the first bottle had a lot of big clumsy bubbles, while the second had basically no bubbles and a lot of particles/floaties. Aroma for both was mostly toffee malts, with some fruity, almost sweet plummy esters. Flavor very malty with some earthiness in the back, but with minimal hops ("Blech" for me, personally). For further disparity, the makeup of the first bottle was overly fizzy (like cream soda) while the second bottle was flat and watery. Whatever the bottle, neither could sustain an otherwise not-all-that-terrible malt/ester flavor profile, even with the absense of my much craved hops. Overall, not such a good blind choice for me.
