scottallan (10), USA Dec 29, 2006 12 oz bottle out of a case. Poured a nice light gold. Okay head. Nice citrusy flavor with a light bitterness. Very drinkable, I took care of that case in no time. Linus_Stick (1459), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2007 One of the better wits out there. Pour was a beautiful cloudy white with little head (no sediment). Aroma of grass and and barn. Taste was spicy and yeasty with some coriander and citrus in the background. As all wits, this finishes dry and crisp. You would never know it had alcohol in it. Great job by my neighbors to the north. guzzler67 (1116), Hanover, Maryland, USA Jun 20, 2007 Hazy, golden appearance with a small white head and light lacing. Yeasty aroma with a modest amount of citrus. Tart, mildly spiced taste with little depth. Mouthfeel is light bodied and well carbonated. Clean, crisp short lived finish. DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid lemon pulpy yellowish pour with 2-finger white head. Aroma is lemongrassy hopcitrus, pale malt, some floral and spicy hints. The palate is medium to light, with flavor notes of lemony citrus, hops, coriander, white pepper. The flavor seems a tiny bit muted in this, but I’d still give this a marginal recommendation as a decent wit or hot weather beer. cheapdark (1502), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007Finally I get a chance to taste the Erie Sunshine wit. Let me tell you, I have been waiting a while to get a hold of this. This is a 12 oz brown bottle fresh out of the brewery, just made a couple of weeks ago. Attractive label. Pop the lid and you get a rather barnyard aroma, there isn’t any hints of spice in there like the other wits. It almost smells like freshly cut hay. I think I like this simpler is better aroma. The look is rather cloudy and light, not really any pale yellow in there, more like off or dirty white. Perhaps even vanilla. It has that swirling hypnotizing effect inside the glass if you pour it correctly as with most wits that got the gunk in the bottom of the bottle. Taste is like you are drinking something strained thru wet straw. Boy, this is certainly a rural Pennsylvania experience. Medium carbonation. No detectable bitterness. Well mannered and friendly, hop and impy lovers will not like this brew. Overall, I like this wit. This is a good refreshing brew that has no hints alcohol what so ever. No addtional spices make this easy to take. Friendly and well mannered. Erie brewing has got to be one of the most underrated micro breweries around. This beer is almost as good as Hoegaarden White, Wittekerke or East End Witte. It is much better than Samuel Adams White Ale. Mind you, Belgian White is one of my favorite styles.
