2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, - MAY 8, 2006
Gravity cask @ Reading Beer Festival 2006. Sweet caramely nose with some juicy apple. Unusual for a cider.
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 fishonmyplane (164) - Newington, Connecticut, USA - JUL 10, 2011
July 2011. Labelled as: "Ermie and Gerties Orchard Blend Cider. Traditional Somerset".
This cider was a bit smoky, had no carbonation, and was extremely sour. Not sweet at all. A hint of horse blanket. It tasted like it had expired, although it was not passed the expiration date on the bottle.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2010
"Traditional Somerset Cider". Cloudy tan. There is a little bit of poop to the nose with some apples and tannins. Very flat. Sour, assertive and edgey with extreme rusticity. Still lots of poopy pedio. Quite flat in the finish. Funkadelic but I can’t say it comes together.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2007
From the barrel at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Very dark colour for a cider, probbaly deriving from the wood in which it is aged. And a very strong woody character is obvious in both aroma and flavour. I suspect whisky barrels were involved. What fruit there is is rather submerged. Nonetheless, there’s a sweetish feel on the palate. No sweetness indicator provided but I’d have this down as a medium. Some interesting elements but the wood is just too dominant for my taste.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2006
Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Deep copper (weird colour for a cider). Good enough cider, some sourness on end. I really quite like it.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAY 1, 2006
Cask @ Reading 06: Suprising amber colour. Sweet fresh apple juice, quite simple and tasty.
