Bottle. Pours ruby black with a large frothy diminishing tan head -- it looks great! Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Flavour follows aroma along with a touch of chocolate. Body is a little thin. I really like this and I want more, time for a trip to Quebec!
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jbrus (4989) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - SEP 25, 2005
Bottled. Aroma starts with chocolat and black currant but stays mainly licorice. Very dark ruby color, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, light roasted, mainly licorice in the flavor as well. Bit smooth mouthfeel at start soons gets thin. Aroma makes you expect more complexity in the flavor but it’s not there.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & tupalev - courtesy of jerc. Dark ruby-brown, small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with a bit of smoke & tobacco. Thin body. Flavour of roasted coffee & dark malt. Finish is moderately dry, with a not entirely unpleasant sourness. Not bad.

Bottle, thanks Jerc. Ok, this is getting late in the evening now. Dark brown pour, small tan head. Roast malt, coffee in mild aroma. Taste of roasted coffee beans over a thin mouthfeel. An interesting style for sure, I don’t care for the thinness of it, but this turned out ok.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2005 Bottle - shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc at tupalev’s domicile - provided by jerc. Poured a deep, dark, clear ruby with a large but short-lived light brown head. Aroma - hops, grain, dark roast malt, some slightly obnoxious yeast, and cedar chips. Flavour was quite grainy (Canadian beer, duh), some hops, wet mulch and some roast malt to make it palatable. Average mouthfeel, a little overroasted even for me, a bit harsh and could stand up for itself better (weakish body).
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 29, 2005
Bomber with the birds on it - Hmm, I wonder if that means the bottle is very new or very old... or neither. Black ruby tinged body, creamy beige head is fleeting. Dry roast in the aroma is acidic more than coffee. Flavour is dry, like sweetened cold cofffee. watery. Echoes of chocolate are embarrassed as they are prodded into making an appearance. Thinnish palate. Dry chalky finish. Meh.
