3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2004 version (seal). Deep black but clear with a nice moka coloured head. Smoked malt and bitter chocolate taste , where the roasted notes come out well, and light hop in the finish. Very good body. However, in a blind tasting, this would have been classed as a porter as I tought the malts and hops where more typical of that style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
best I have had from this style. Aroma of molasses black, smooth without any sourness at all. Anise, well-malted, carmel, cocoasome coffee and roast highlights. Well carbonated, medium mouthfeel.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber with the birds on it - Hmm, I wonder if that means the bottle is very new or very old... or neither. Black ruby tinged body, creamy beige head is fleeting. Dry roast in the aroma is acidic more than coffee. Flavour is dry, like sweetened cold cofffee. watery. Echoes of chocolate are embarrassed as they are prodded into making an appearance. Thinnish palate. Dry chalky finish. Meh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to beerbuzzmontreal for sending this one out. Dark brown, almost black beer with a thick and lasting dark brown head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate with a touch of acidity as well. Flavour is quite clean, light bready malts, roasted barley, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Light bitterness. Nice creamy texture. Nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an opaque blackness with a thick, puffy, and well-lacing, light tan head. Aroma is mildly malty and burnt. Smooth flavorful body has lots of caramel and roasted malts and hints of dark chocolate. A good easy drinking schwarzbier, but just doesn't quite have the substance to be more highly rated.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours ruby black with a large frothy diminishing tan head -- it looks great! Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Flavour follows aroma along with a touch of chocolate. Body is a little thin. I really like this and I want more, time for a trip to Quebec!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pours midnight black with ruby on the edges. Large foamy tannish head, with what appears to be very sticky lacing. Heavy roasted malts on the nose, along with minor notes of coffee/espresso. Almost appears more of a dark porter than a blackbier. Welp, certainly tastes more like a blackbier, burnt! Burnt malts and a light hop profile on this one. A bit thin on the body, but otherwise quite nice and easy to drink. Finishes with a light bitterness and a slight nutty tinge, not to mention the burnt malts. Rather enjoyable. Thanks goes out to Rastacouere for the trade!
