3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Aubrey (3193) - Bellingham, USA - DEC 10, 2002
By far, the best Eske’s beer I’ve tasted! Roasty, toasty and tasty! Creamy and lasting head. Sharp, burnt nose. Very smooth and rich on the tongue. Nice hop bitterness in the finish. Wholesome, woodsy, earthy flavors exude. Very satisfying.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cavie (3248) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Tap at the pub. Pours a dark brown color that shows ruby hues when held to the light. Light ring of beige colored head. Aroma is very chocolatey, roasted malts and dark sweet sugar. Flavor is dark malts, big roast, light bakers chocolate and perhaps a hint of coffee? Has a pseudo sweetener finish. Still, the best beer from them I’ve had so far.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 25, 2011
Amber-brown. Toasty aroma. Thin but with toasty, cocoa notes. Simple, but respectable porter with light oaty character late.

Draft @ brewpub. Nice black with thick lasting head. Silky astringent coffee aroma. Continues to be silky in the palate. Lightly acidic coffee and chocolate flavors with nice subtle roast too. One of their better ones.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerandBlues2 (6127) - Lone Tree, Colorado, USA - JAN 7, 2009
Draught. Pours black with an average, creamy, off-white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (roasted grain, bitter chocolate, burnt coffee), average hops (perfume), average yeast (leather, sweat, soap) with notes of wet charcoal, tar, and prunes. Light bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness; a sour, wet sock flavor comes through at the end.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 23, 2006
Watery, sour. Light roasted malts and chocolate. Very roasty finish. Drinkable.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - JUN 3, 2004
On-tap at the pub: Tarrnished dark brown color with crimson highlights, clearish body overall with a thin ivory cap and thinly placed strings of lace stick. Aroma is faint of roasty blackened malts with slight charred chocolate notes. Flavor has a bit more action but still misses the mark. Oaty dark sweetness with hazelnut and vanilla mixing with notes of chocolate and coffee roast. Tiny hint of hop bite towards the finish. A bit thin on top but finish is decent enough with mostly a thinner body throughout and drys out a bit. Drinkable but lacking.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - JUN 1, 2004
Pours black with a lasting off-white head. Aromas of caramel chocolate and highly kilned grains. Very full bodied for the style. I would say a hopped-up oatmeal stout is more a more accurate category. I agree, this is Eske’s best brew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 whaleman (2176) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 1, 2004
Dark brown with auburn edges. Aroma of green and black olives and dark-roasted coffee. The aroma notes follow through into the flavor except the olive is more subdued and some chocolate malt quality comes to the forefront. A very roasty and fairly interesting porter.
