COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottled- Dark brown, almost black. Small bubbly pale brown head. Rich deep aroma of fudge, dark chocolate, vanilla cookies, soy, mild pepper and muscavado sugar. Medium-bodied with notes of roasted and burnt malts with notes of anise, ashes and dark chocolate. Long solid malty finish of burnt malts, dark chocolate, nuts, mild sweetness from dried fruits, anise-seeds and mild brown sugar. I dig this, a great porter, not outstanding

Wonderfully dry aroma of dark roasted malt with light hints of coffee and chocolate. The taste is pleasant fresh with a good taste of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. In the aftertaste there is a dry bitterness. The hops give the taste a fresh tone, a bit like a Black IPA. Tasty!

Dark dark brown with a hint off red and a almost non-existing light brown head. Nice coffee, prune and chocolate notes, still thinner than expected. Medium acidity and low bitterness.

330 ml bottle bought through Systembolaget. Pours very dark chestnut brown, almost black, with a small brownish gray head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and loaded with chocolate combined with raisins, wood. honey, roasted malts, vanilla and hints of smoke and coffee. Taste is slightly sweet and bitter with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, coffee, pine, pumpernickel, prunes, citrusy hops and hints of metal and wet earth. Mouthfeel is slightly watery, slightly round and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with coffee, cocoa, roasted malts and salty liquorice. Elegant very nice smell combined with an ok and solid taste. Good but doesn’t live up to the marvelous smell.

Bottle. Muddy brown/black with a nice short dense brown head that leaves some marks on the glass. Aroma is pretty dull with some malty notes of cocoa powder, soy and a hint of coffee but mainly rubber or plastic. Some licorice and grass in the background. Taste is better with almost burnt notes and a pinch of caramel sweetness and a quite dry bitterness that gets herbal towards the end. Cocoa powder and coffee is there but the taste is dominated by burnt wood, licorice and soy with some citrus acidic notes. Weird watery notes comes and goes. Medium bodied with almost flat carbonation.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 8 Oct 2011) Black colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, vanilla, ashes and hints of oak wood. Roasted, malty taste with dark chocolate, black coffee, vanilla and a certain cocoa bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a fair amount of sweetness. Nice one.
