gnoff (5004) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 13, 2011
Draught at Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm, on December 13, 2011
Label stated "Brown Ale"
Pretty much black color in the light I had, has a hint of dark red in the bottom of the glass when held to the light. Very dark for a "Brown Ale" indeed. Small bubbly tan head. Sweet, sort of acidic taste that I think comes from Coriander/Cillantro or some other spice, also some clove, and smoke. Roasted malt, coffee, acidic spicy aftertaste. Sort of watery thin mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Feels right for the x-mas season. Malty, spicy, vegetable, but unfortunately also a garbage off-scent. Some cocoa/milk chocolate in scent and taste also.

courtesy of Per - cloudy dark brown beer with a poor head retention; a solid yet not overwhelming aroma of ginger with hints of cloves; medium malt body and carbonation; moderate sweetness and quite dry finish; malty aftertaste with lingering notes of ginger and pineapple - well-made

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Very deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is a bunch of spices, some sweet malts and some hops and liquorice. Flavour is spicy, maltyness and some mild floral notes. Rather thin palate after the first spicyness kicks in.
