In 2011, 796 beers were entered for the Brewing Industry International Awards 2011, which were held in England. A renowned jury, consisting of experts from the brewing world, awarded ESTAMINET Premium Pils the highest score in the ‘Lager’ category. This gold medal, which is seen as an ‘Oscar’ within the beer world, is an important recognition and victory for PALM Breweries. The awards and medals will be presented during a gala event on 12 April at the prestigious Guildhall in London. ESTAMINET owes its premium quality (5.2% vol/alc) to the selection of the best natural ingredients: soft water, 100% high quality summer barley, a distinctive yeast and very precious Saaz hops. Slow, traditional bottom fermentation, a brewing process based on an original recipe and maturation for a full six weeks make ESTAMINET a true Belgian Premium Pils.

Bottle 33cl, a clear yellow beer with low head. Nose is is on dry malt and nuts. Aroma is low malty, thin body, dusty hops, medium bitterness, very boring. Finish is very industrial like.

Not my style, and not good regardless. Better than the big box, but what is that really saying??? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Draught at Engelbewaarder, Amsterdam, 1 March 2015) Pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, clean nose with notes of bread, cereal and hay. Malty taste with bread, grain, hay and a fairly low bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Middle-of-the-roadish pale euro lager, no faults, but quite boring. Drinkable.

25cl bottle. Clear pale straw colour with a thin white head. Corny herbal aroma. Light watery body and average carbonation. Taste is... Overall, a normal pils.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2015 Bottle. Pale golden body, medium head. Aroma has some cabbage-like vegetal hints. Okay carbonation and mouthfeel. Sweet malty and bready taste. Slightly above average hoppiness for a pale lager but I don’t see this as a pilsner. It’s drinkable but lacks that hoppy crispness.

Heldere citroengele kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt pils-achtig, weinig. Smaakt pils-achtig. Weinig bijzonders.

has a nice grass, sweet malt aroma. Good carbonation, taste is a fairly smooth bodies light grassy malt taste. Better then the average pils, but I don’t know who is throwing gold medals at this.

Pale golden beer, small to medium white head. Nose has metallic notes with malts and grain. Flavor is malt and a vague graininess, weak hops in the finish. Very neutral and bland. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

This states right on the bottle that it is an ale and I am rating it as such. A unique class of its own since I know of no other brewer that has used Saaz hops in an ale.I was not expecting much after the pour but this brew is oddly very refreshing for an ale.Head perfectly clings to the glass.Colour of murrifat macrobrews.Brewed since 1747.
