COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2011, 796 beers were entered for the Brewing Industry International Awards 2011, which were held in England. A renowned jury, consisting of experts from the brewing world, awarded ESTAMINET Premium Pils the highest score in the ‘Lager’ category. This gold medal, which is seen as an ‘Oscar’ within the beer world, is an important recognition and victory for PALM Breweries. The awards and medals will be presented during a gala event on 12 April at the prestigious Guildhall in London. ESTAMINET owes its premium quality (5.2% vol/alc) to the selection of the best natural ingredients: soft water, 100% high quality summer barley, a distinctive yeast and very precious Saaz hops. Slow, traditional bottom fermentation, a brewing process based on an original recipe and maturation for a full six weeks make ESTAMINET a true Belgian Premium Pils.

bottle. Golden with small head. Bready pils, on the sweet side. Slightly medicinal. I’ve definitely had much better pilsners.

11.2oz bottle. Pale yellow-straw-tan. Steady white head. Insane fast rising carbonation bubbles. Has a lot more creamy, doughy, yeast notes than I would have expected, even though it is clearly filtered. Actually is the best Belgian Pilsener I’ve had maybe. Clean, not so much emphasis on the hops, more like a German Lager. A touch too thick on the palate so not really nailing the style. Overall, better than I expected, a decent malty lager.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Pale yellow brew with white head. Aroma of cereal, corn, a little yeast, a little mineral water. Taste is a little sweet, again cereal with a little corn overtone, a little earth and spice. Finish is mineral water and metal with a lingering sweet taste and final bitter tone that I associate with better pilseners. Sticky palate. This is not bland and certainly distinctive, but does come across as being as well balanced as I would like.

Clear yellow. Small to no head. Sweet kinda corny aroma. Its good on the palate with.a.straw like quality but the.corny.sweet finish largely ruins it.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 Bottle from Asahiya. Very light sugar and grass. Clear light straw, thin head. Grass, powdered-sugar cookies, along with some decent bitterness. Thin-medium body. Okay, but barely. The corn lightens it up too much.

Draft, Toronado. Served in a branded glass. Looks kinda like a gueze glass. Pours a bright, golden shade of yellow. Perfectly clear. Medium head which seems pretty good for a cold pour to the brim. Very white. Very fine bubbles. Good lacing. Aroma is a bit light on hops but there’s a fresh, pleasant grain character. It’s sweet and a bit doughy. The hops provide a little lemon and grass in the background. The taste starts sweet with pale malt. A bit more of that doughy, bready flavor. Nice lager yeasty note in the middle. Picks up some apple flavor which I don’t love. That apple cider flavor lasts into the finish which could use a touch more hops. What’s there is lemony. Mouthfeel is light but somewhat creamy. Gentle effervescence. Good pils but not fantastic.
