3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE TASTED: November 15, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... OCCASION: just returned from watching LVR’s production of All My Sons--legs were broken... APPEARANCE: tawny, straw-golden body--comes across rather faded--with effervescence of various pacing; head is snow white and lacing nicely, like frost on a winter window... AROMA: the punch of Saaz front row and center; bananas and some off-putting wet rag as well...PALATE: soft, light-bodied and swift in its descent; active and bubbly on the tongue, inviting flirtation...TASTE: immediate complex esters arrest the teeth--apple and pear, most notably--while subtle malts work the throat with a woody, pulpish effect; floral, almost perfumy experience, a beer that dances lightly on its feet, yet it finishes with some grainy/rice aftertaste ...OVERALL: as one of the four self-touted "Great Beers of Belgium,," this pilsner has some product potential--over two hundred fifty years of brewing, black and gold foil necktie, a nicely drinkable flow--and delivers with a delicately complex pilsner worthy of a second look...

(Bottle, 0.25 l - BB 23.07.15, thanks FatPhil, 20150721) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness and a hint of grain. Palate was medium bodied with stinging carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, berries, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A weird and not good brew.

12oz bottle pours a pale yellow/golden with a medium white head. Aroma of grain and barley, grassy hops, with notes of yeast. Sweet malt and grain taste, a little cardboard, honey, yeast with a light grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Pretty decent.

5.1% ABV bottle of "Brabante Lager" from Rehills, Newcastle. Commercial description "Gold, soft and fruity hop aroma, becomes usual exceptional. For its freshness, moreover, it is the best alternative in the days and hot nights and beer to share moments of celebration."
Hazy pale straw coloured with a thin creamy white head. It has a grassy, malty, sweet and slight herbal flavour followed by a bitter, slight herbal creamy finish

11 oz bottle. Decent co2. Fairly mild and laid back for an old country pilsner and I appreciate that. Actually I think it should be a pale lager its so smooth. Lacks any of that sharp pils bite so common with old country pils. Yes, an easy going beer Civilized and reserved, not bad overall and better than expected. Good interesting finish.
