COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here in the sun-drenched fields of California’s North Valley, the black soil is rich with promise. In winter, rows of barley seed are laid in the freshly tilled dirt. In spring, trellises are set for hops. From our fields comes a remarkable homegrown ale, made with organic wet hops and barley grown at our brewery here in Chico and one of the few estate-made ales produced anywhere in the world! This Estate Ale is rich with the flavors of the valley—featuring hops with earthy, grapefruit-like flavors and layered spicy aromas and barley with mild sweetness and smooth, toasted flavors. Together, these crops grow alongside the brewery to make a truly unique brew. Enjoy!

Pours cloudy amber with a lot of creamy head. Smells almost like a pilsner but with more hops. Tastes starts out like a pilsner then fades into earthy piney hops then finishes with earthy caramel flavors.

Backlog tap Tyler’s. Pours a clear copper color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. Aroma is pine, citrus, and herbal hops. Light lacing. Flavor is hops, esters, and a little bit of malt sweetness at this point. Finish is fairly clean but too much like many other SN beers. Medium body. A nice beer.

Pours a dark amber with a rediculous two finger head that sticks around and eventually leaves a crazy lacing. Aroma is a bit subdued, piney and citrus hops are there but well balanced with the malts. Taste is set apart from the nose, bitter hops kick u in the face in the best way possible and follow with a good malt backbone. Delicious and amazing, I just wish it didn’t cost so much or I would drink this more often

Pours a dark golden brown, a bit hazy, with very thick, frothy head. Malty aroma, with a fairly nice hop bite. Flavor is hoppy, with a definite malt sweetness underneath. Rather bitter finish. Not the best IPA I’ve tried, but it’s certainly not bad, either.

Pours a clear dark orange with a big off white head. Aroma is slightly spicy, citrus zest, and grassy. Taste is earthy, pine, grapefruit, and some toasted malt. Nice bitterness and a lasting finish. Very easy to drink. Really good overall.

Bottle. A clear, dark golden colored beer topped by an off-white head. Grassy, lightly citrusy nose with some maltyness in the back. The flavor has some bitterness and a touch of caramel, as well as the same grass and citrus found in the aroma. Full to medium bodied, nicely carbonated. Bitter finish. A nice and well tasting, easy drinkable beer, quenching as well. 110826

Bottle. Pours deep runt orange with nice off white head and great lacing. Smell is mostly flowers with some citrus and just a touch of caramel. Taste is a thick rich citrus and pine with some sharp bitterness and big balancing malts. Overall just another really nice brew from Sierra Nevada.

From memory. This is one hell of a beer. There’s a rich freshness that rarely gets matched here. Even Sierra Nevada’s southern and northern hemispere harvest beers don’t quite get the lush malt intensity found in this beer. Certainly a beer that I wish you could get year round.

Bottle, waxed top. Epic pour, with a gigantic full head of rocky, pure-white foam, topping a bright orange beer. Not much aroma can escape this head, but what’s there is laden with spring citrus blossom. The beer drinks with a distinctively robust body ... I swear it weighs more than other beer. The citric hop gives a little burn at the very finish, but otherwise this drinks with a rich malty base. The leafy, wet hops stick around on the palate for quite a while. The 6.7% is definitely well disguised here, too. Sublime. (#4525, 3/15/2012)
