Aroma is caramel and malts with some vanilla. Pours a dark reddish brown with almost no head. Taste is caramel and malty sweet. Not as much alcohol taste as other barleywines. Very good.

2001 or 2002 bottle via a trade with ratman197. Pours with a very small head over a muddy bronze body. Aroma has tons of caramel, licorice, leather, currants, sherry and brown sugar. Taste is brown sugar, sherry and caramel. Age has been very friendly to this beer. Light bubbles.

12 oz 2004 bottle a bonus from Ratman! Thanks Don! Nose of raisin pie with some toffee and the pies yeasty crust, nose is really mellow! Very murky amber with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with an Adam old ale note. Quite a decent barleywine.

10/10/2010. Sampled at the brewery. My favorite of the beers served there. Dark brown with a tan head. Malt, dried fruit, caramel aromas with hints of alcohol. Thick and buttery, dried fruit, alcohol with light hops.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a thick malty barleywine - sweet, caramel, burnt toast; a great combination of malt flavors here. It’s all balanced by a generous hopping. Finish is long, warm and mellow (with a slight acidity). Bought a couple of bottles to try at a later date.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy mahagoney with a ruby tint and no head, with the exception being some slow rising bubbles congregating on top of the brew and at the glass edge. Complex malty and hoppy aroma with raisins, lots of caramel and toffee notes, and a pleasant sweet chocolate nose. Flavor is very hoppy starting out, followd by an intense dry hop finish, yet the caramel malts find their way in between the hops. Warm and full bodied palate that finishes progressingly spicy as the beer leaves your mouth.
