Ernest (4186), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 9, 2005 Draught, Boulder Strong Ale fest ’05. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, chocolate), with notes of wood and bourbon. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Cherry character is mainly reserved to the sour flavor balance, which isn’t terribly enjoyable for me in a stout, but some may like that. Simple malty aroma with some corny Bourbon notes. Eh. Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA Mar 8, 2005 pours black with a khaki head. aroma is cherry, light cherry, with a sugary chocolate note. taste is weak chocolate with syrupy cherry, blah, watery, very weak. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 6, 2005 Thin grey head. Opaque. Aroma is live, leafy cherries. Sweet, sour cherries dominate the palate. Some roastedness rolls into the finish. One of their better offerings.
