COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porters are considered dark ales with it's malt character from the darker malts. It doesn't have the roasted flavor of a stout. Our porter is very smooth dark brown ale.

This porter poured a deep black colour with a very small, almost non-existant head that is tan in colour. To the nose there are scents of roasted malt, coffee, caramel and a little cocoa. First sip smooth and rich with a medium syrupy mouthfeel. Flavours of roasted coffee, caramel and molassass most prodominant. finish is sweet with the roasty flavours lingering.

"i thought their stout was excellent, so had hopes for this one, but it ends up rather unspectacular. a little more raisiny sweetness than i’m used to in an american porter. it’s nice, but very one dimensional, and a touch thin."

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a decent looking dark brown color with a soft white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light lacing here and there. The smell had a slightly smooth nutty chocolate aroma that seemed to be lightly roasted. The taste was mainly sweet yet carried a decent chocolate/nutty flavoring. On the palate, this one sat fairly light and carried a degree of sessionability to it. The carbonation finished fairly smoothly. Overall, good porter worthy of having again.

Roasty in aroma in flavor. Not terribly complex, but a nice roasty porter. Notes: Pub visit during ’09 GABF

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2011 Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a light beige head, over a clear, brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is light coffee, chocolate....taste is light coffee, chocolate, with a slightly bitter finish....mouth feel light, carbonation high. This meets the general style of a Porter, but it is light for the style in complexity both in aroma and flavor. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6
