3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a black color with a brown head. Aroma was typical of a stout with nice malts with subtle hints of grain. The flavor was very nice with the right amount of sweetness and malts.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sample draught at the brewery. Beer was a very dark brown and nearly opaque with a tiny light brown, frothy, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of roasted grain, chocolate, light note of molasses; Hoppy with a moderate herb note; Light moderate note of brine. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with a long, moderately bitter/grippy, lightly sweet, trace astringent finish. The body was medium, the texture was watery and the carbonation was average.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours to a pitch black color with a dark tan head of medium thickness. The body of this is very thick, almost like pouring used motor oil. Aroma is malty chocolate, and the flavor is a malty sweet mix of choclate and toffee. A good, tasty beer, although it would be better suited to a cool fall night than tonite’s 90+ degree weather.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A terrific everyday stout (that I unfortunately can’t get everyday), although I liked it much better on tap than out of the bottle (was almost completely flat for me out of the bottle = no head). Comes through with a wonderful taste up front, but fades into a watery finish - although it leaves a lingering licorice/chocolate flavor behind. If you happen to end up in Estes, you should definitely give it a try at the brewery (their pizza’s darn good too).

Bottle poured an opaque black with a small diminishing brown head. Aromas of smoke, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and strong black coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of black coffee, smoke, a hint of dark chocolate and a bit of vanilla with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.
